The Chicago Bears will release veteran WR Victor Cruz en route to their final 53-man roster, which must be submitted to the NFL by 4:00 p.m. EST on Saturday.

Cruz, 30, totaled 6 catches for 28 yards and 1 TD this preseason.
The Bears signed Cruz to a one-year, $2 million deal in free agency, but the veteran wideout failed to make much of his opportunities over the last four weeks.
He's also dealing with a knee injury.

The release of Cruz means Kendall Wright's roster spot is secure. Wright, who also had 6 receptions this summer, converted his catches into 58 yards and a score.
Cruz suffered a few costly drops and didn't flash the kind of lateral agility that made him a potent offensive weapon during his tenure as a Giant.
It's possible he's played his last down in the NFL.
