#9 Boise St (12-0)

#5 USC (11-1)

#4 Florida (11-1)
#13 Cincinnati (10-2)

#3 Texas (11-1)
#14 Oklahoma St. (9-3)

#6 Utah (12-0)
#11 TCU (10-2)

#7 Texas Tech (11-1)
#10 Ohio St (10-2)

I would replace Utah with TCU. My final four would go....

Penn St.
Florida

Texas
Oklahoma

With Florida just getting by the Sooners for the title.

I'm aware that your scenario is a BCS playoff....

....but if there were a playoff as deep as 16 teams, I have to think every conference gets at least 1 team (even the shit ones like sun belt)

and I'm not sure they let 3 in from the same conf (although they should)....even SEC or Big 12

An 8 team playoff would be the max allowed because 16 would be too many games for college football. 3 games back to back to back would yeild too many injuries. The top teams would be on their 2nd and 3rd stringers by the time you got to the title game. If they did a playoff, it would probably start with 4 teams and possibly grow from there.

2 max from each conference and top 8 in the BCS standings. 2 loss teams take the back seat to 0-1 loss teams.

This year Ohio St., Texas Tech, Ball St., and TCU would be the ones bitching but at least we would know we are crowning the best team.

Texas would get the nod over Tech because of their BCS ranking.

Probably a lot of holes in this but it would be a good place to start...

A 16 team playoff will NEVER happen. It would destroy the Bowls. You will never see the Pac-10 champion playing a 1st round playoff game that isn't the Rose Bowl.

The field of teams would be too big, anyway. Georgia, Oklahoma St., and Georgia Tech don't have any legit claim to the national title.

A 4 team playoff is too small of a field of teams. The Bowls plus one has flaws.

An 8 team playoff is the only thing that makes sense. Use the four BCS Bowls as quarterfinals and add two semifinals that rotate amongst the four BCS sites. The title game has already been added.

The only question then is: Who gets in?? How do you set the pairings??

I would say take every major and mid major conference champion. That would be 11 teams. Then take 5 at large (the top 5 from the BCS rankings that were not a conference champion)

1 — Alabama (SEC Champion)
16 — Troy (Sun Belt Champion)
8 — Penn State (Big 10 Champion)
9 — Boise State (WAC Champion)
4 — Florida (At Large #2)
13 — Cincinnati (Big East Champion)
5 — USC (Pac-10 Champion)
12 — Ball State (MAC Champion)

2 — Oklahoma (Big 12 Champion)
15 — Tulsa (Conference USA Champion)
7 — Texas Tech (At Large #3)
10 — Ohio State (At Large #4)
3 — Texas (At Large #1)
14 — Boston College (ACC Champion)
6 — Utah (Mountain West Champion)
11 — TCU (At Large #5)

I wouldn't put any 3 loss teams into the playoffs, clearly they have proven that they aren't deserving of a national title.
