College Football Presidents must really think we're Stupid. I'll give them this,They probably can ACE a Celsius test, give a lecture to where 50% of us couldn't comprehend , but I'll take my chances with any of these fools in a common sense test. Because they just don't get it, on this BCS system. And with all due respect Lee Corso, this system doesn't work.
Picking Champions or determing a Championship Game by opinions of Sportswriters and Coaches is basically an obsolete method. Didn't this practice start in the 30's ? Its the freaking 21st Century. Wake up College Presidents. There was No money in all of this back in the 30's. Now College Football is a MultiMillion Dollar Business. You can't determine a Champion or Select teams for these major Bowl Games based on Writers and Coaches who, quite frankly, have their own agendas. College Presidents, your basing your Championship on Objective votes, suspicious voting patterns, arguing over the voting, and whining.
Every Year their is a new Controversy, even after years of tweaking it. How about the latest tweaking to the system. Have the Polls come out later on in the year so lower rated teams have more of a fair chance to move up in Polls. What is that going to accomplish. You still would have ended up with three teams to fill up 2 spots. You still would have a team left out that needs to be playing for a Championship. Who is to say whether Auburn, OKlahoma, USC, LOuisville, Utah, or Boise St are the best teams. How do we know ? If we had THIS System in Baseball or College Hoops, wouldn't Duke or the Yankees be the Champions at least every other year.
Shame on You College Presidents, Your Cheating us out of a Anaheim Angels, Florida Marlins, North Carolina St, Villanova type story. Maybe this would have been a Boise St, Louisville,or a Utah type of story. How are we ever going to Know ? Do you realize what we probably have missed in our generation because of this Indefensible system so we can preserve a game between Pitt and Utah ?
One of the BCS arguments over the years is How important the regular season is, especially compared to other Sports. How do they figure that ? I think its just the opposite. How did the importance of the regular season benefit Auburn, or Utah, or Louisville ? Oh, thats right they didn't look impressive enough one night in a particular game. So these teams are banished to a " Who Cares Consolation Exhibition Game " with " Pitt " and " VA Tech ". Ridiculous argument !!
And how many more times do I have to hear a TV Commentator tell me how great or important these Bowl games are. If you have to keep reminding of this then your just trying to convince yourself. I'm sorry but I can't get excited about these games because to me they don't mean anything. Enough is Enough
I got an idea. Why don't we group all four of these Major Bowl games and put them all on Jan. 1st 9am to 9pm Quadruple Header. Give the 5 major Conferences a slot ( no Big East ) in these 4 games and have BCS pick the 3 at large teams. Play the 4 games and then have a Semifinals weekend the following week and a real Championship after that. 3 extra games would solve all of this, keep the Bowls intact, only increase the season for 4 teams. 4 Major Bowl games could rotate each year for the Championship game. 2 Semifinal game sites could be from existing Bowl games. Also I don't believe there would be a major outcry over the last At Large team being left out, compared to the Backlash that you have now in the BCS present form. The regular season would mean even more in this scenerio because you have a chance to win a Championship by winning your conference or by having a great year and earning an At Large berth.
Like I said, I don't believe a College President could pass a Common Sense test, so this solution wouldn't work.
