Per ESPN, Baylor leads the Big 12 in recruiting for 2016, even though they are not exactly tearing up the recruiting trail. What does that mean to OU and Texas? Probably another 2-3 years of used to be and wanna-be. How bad is it when a dump in Waco Texas, of all places, out recruits the likes of Texas and OU? I do not want to hear any excuses from Texas or OU fans. Your football programs are just like Michigan's. A thing of the past.

Strong has always signed his recruits late dating back to his Louisville days, so it wouldn't surprise me if Texas ends up with a stronger class. I don't know with OU because they have some new coaches on the recruiting trail. I guess we'll find out how good they are. But I'm not overly excited about OU's prospects next year. I think the main reason Texas and especially OU has dropped from being a top 10 recruiting school to a top 15 is because of Texas A&M, not Baylor. Actually most of the players that Baylor and TCU has recruited in the last couple of years haven't even been on OU's radar.

I kind of thought that myself. As far as Texas is concerned, I think that Charlie is a terrible HC. Who wants to go play for a HC with his reputation of tossing players off of the team? He lost a 5 star recruit to Houston, of all teams. OU is a different story. They should NOT be losing that many players to A&M. I do not understand why they are having problems recruiting. How do they compare to in state rival Okie State as far as recruiting goes? ESPN has Baylor at 12, but no other Big 12 team in the Top 15. Baylor ranks 18 on CBS's 247 projection.

OU is having more problems recruiting because of the simple fact that A&M is now an SEC team. If you were a 4 or 5 star recruit, what conference would you rather play for to give you the most exposure and prepare you for the NFL? Right now A&M is still the flavor of the month, but it doesn't mean they will always remain that way. OU's recruiting is hurt by the Aggies, but OSU's recruiting is really been hurt since TCU joined the conference. They can't just go into the DFW area and get those high 3's or 4 star players anymore. TCU is getting them. From what I heard, that 5 star out of Houston was going to go to UH no matter what anybody did. If he didn't care that much about sticking close to home Texas A&M would have got him. Houston is prime recruiting territory for A&M.

Interesting. So basically as far as the Big 12 is concerned, it is who will finish as close to A&M as possible. That still does not explain why Texas and OU are so far behind Baylor.

I think Texas will overtake everybody in the conference in a couple of years. I don't think Baylor and TCU can sustain what they are doing right now. The question will be if Strong can withstand what could be a little of a down year this year and survive past 3 years...I have my doubts. Next year is the BIG year for Strong. I think he'll need at least 9 or 10 wins to keep his job.
