TCU has hired Pitt's Jamie Dixon as its next coach, sources told CBS Sports on Monday.An official announcement is expected soon. CBS Sports' Gary Parrish also confirmed the report.
Dixon played at TCU from 1984-87. The 50-year-old coach has led the Panthers to 11 NCAA Tournament appearances in 13 years at Pitt.
He replaces Trent Johnson, who was fired on March 13.
Johnson posted a 50-79 record in his four seasons with the Horned Frogs, going 12-21 this year with an abysmal 2-16 recording in the Big 12.
Parrish first reported interest between Dixon and TCU on Sunday.

I can understand why Pitt fans were ready to see him move on, but it's hard to imagine a scenario where this move ends up being a net positive for Pitt. I think it's going to be hard to find a better coach that wants that job. Tough place to recruit to, even more so now with the move to the ACC.
The University of Arizona coach Sean Miller dismisses any notion of a return to his alma mater, University of Pittsburgh.
Arizona coach Sean Miller announced that he has "no interest" in the coaching vacancy at Pittsburgh, saying he has "one of the great jobs in college basketball" and ending speculation that he might pursue a return to his alma mater.
"I have a tremendous amount of respect and admiration for the university and city of Pittsburgh," Miller said in a statement released Tuesday, one day after Jamie Dixon left the Panthers to take the job at TCU. "My memories and friendships of my time as a student-athlete are the best and strongest of my lifetime.
"However, I have one of the great jobs in college basketball at Arizona. I have no interest in becoming the head coach at Pitt."
Dixon was 328-123 at Pitt, where he led the Panthers to Big East regular-season titles in 2004 and 2011 before the school moved to the Athletic Coast Conference three years ago. Pitt was 21-12 this season and lost to Wisconsin 47-43 on Friday in the first round of the NCAA tournament.
"I wish them luck in replacing Jamie Dixon, a tremendous coach and person, who did an incredible job in his time there," Miller said.
Miller, 47, has coached Arizona for the last seven years and guided the Wildcats to their fourth consecutive NCAA tournament appearance this season.
Arizona lost to Wichita State Shockers in the tournament's first round, ending a string of three straight trips to at least the Sweet 16.

And it's his Alma Mater...I could see if it was anyone but TCU but given the fact he played for them I don't see it as running from anything?
He knew his time was up at PITT, I mean he's a good coach but I just feel like he hit his ceiling here and it was time...maybe the school pushed him a little but that's a good think for Dixon.
I hope he does well, He had Pitt as a #1-3 seed for a few good year...never made it to final 4 though which sucks because even if he won 1 year his stay at Pitt might not have ended.
That's exactly the reason he left. Pitt's going to struggle to compete in the ACC. It's maybe the 8th best job in the conference. His teams, his style and his recruiting were a perfect fit for the Big East. Not so much for the ACC. He knew he wasn't going to last in the ACC, so he took a job at Big 12 school that has dumped a ton of money into their program/facilities. He's going to try to build something similar to what Larry Brown has done at SMU.
