Its often said by Layers that Baseball is a losing proposition and only viable in terms of keeping clientel. Well outside NFL and a few bets for good reason My gambling consists of laying most Sports so I feel I have first hand experience of how things really pan out in who is winning and who is losing.
The situation for all books is that at the start of a Season prices can be loose but that can go for the Bettor as well so the first 4-6 Weeks is a bit of a lottery which I re-assure myself that the odds are in my Favour. As the weeks go by, odds get tighter as the form of the Teams reach a certain standard but not everthing works out that way for the books and they have to make decisions on where they want to be in the mix.
This brings about 2 situations, a book who is willing to lay and a book who is going to basically Arb the market. From a straight forward laying point like myself, the prices have steadied to a degree where I'm comfortable laying Moneylines and Runlines but Totals are off the Menu. The reason for this is the bettors are widely ignorant of the value in M/Ls and R/Ls whereas a total is very Black and White, Under 8, Over 8.
To Date only Runlines are showing a profit with Moneylines a slight loss, Totals are an absolute disaster for the Books. In the near future I see Runlines and Moneylines increasing the Layers Bankroll with a constant loss on Totals. To this end I feel Posters should look on any small market moves on Totals as books wheeling and dealing because they certainly dont want to lay them.
STILL NO PINT ON THE FRONT PAGE :monsters-
