I have Cleveland -1 1/2 runs vs Pittsburgh.....Game tied in the bottom of the ninth, Cleveland batting with runners on second and third. Batter gets a hit which bounces onto the outfield turf and over the fence, which in a typical situation is a ground rule double, two runs score.

What about in this particular situation. A home run automatically scores three runs, game over. However, in this scenario, I say just one run scores....once the ball hits the ground and the runner from third crosses home plate, game over!.

I have a case of Killians riding on the correct answer. Called three umpires tonight, and well....here I am, posing the same question to the RX gang.

I agree only one run scores on a ground rule double in this case. Give some time and I will find the rule.

I think you;re right. Batter gets the double and two bases, but the runner from 2nd base doesn't have to get two bases.

Just a guess though.

The score of a regulation game is the total number of runs scored by each team at the moment the game ends. (a) The game ends when the visiting team completes its half of the ninth inning if the home team is ahead. (b) The game ends when the ninth inning is completed, if the visiting team is ahead. (c) If the home team scores the winning run in its half of the ninth inning (or its half of an extra inning after a tie), the game ends immediately when the winning run is scored. EXCEPTION: If the last batter in a game hits a home run out of the playing field, the batter runner and all runners on base are permitted to score, in accordance with the base running rules, and the game ends when the batter runner touches home plate.

Here's another one for you...

If a game is suspended (due to inclement weather, power outage, or whatever other reason) in *EXTRA INNINGS*, but before the home team has had a chance to take last licks...(i.e., either in a tie, or with the visiting team ahead, but without having completed the bottom of the extra inning..)

...would bets on the total count?

Yes, in your scenario total bets would count:

When wagering on total runs (over/under) the game must go 9 innings (8.5 if the home team is ahead) to have action. If a game is called or suspended in extra innings, the score will be determined after the last full inning unless the home team scores to tie, or takes the lead in the bottom half of the inning, in which case the score is determined at the time the game is called.
