These rules should've been for regular season only. Sportbooks need a new set of rules for World Series games. Baseball has a different set of rules for playoff games. Bud Selig said so himself. If Tampa didn't tie it, game would have been delayed as long as needed in order to play a full 9 innings. World Series game wasn't going to be decided by less than 9 innings. I wonder what would have happened if Philly or even Tampa were leading 10-0 after 4 innings and condition wouldn't allow play to continue. Would game have been called or suspended?

baseball does not have different rules for playoff/world series, bud is just making them up as they go along. kind of like nascar does the last couple of years. don't confuse his idiocy with the fact that rules aren't in place, if the fcuking idiots started a game at 7:00 instead of 8:30 or later this would be a non issue. baseball is doing itself an injustice with the way things are being run by the current commish.

You know what, I hate to admit but Bud would have been right if the game got suspended with the score 2-1 if he would have continued the game when it stopped raining, whether it was today or even tomorrow.

How much would everyone be bitching if Philly won the World Series on a 2-1 game called in the 6th because of rain?

There are probably some pissed off gamblers that bet the Phillys to win the WS, and then hedged last nights game by taking the Rays. THAT WOULD BE A NUTCRACKER.

I believe they do. Bud met with the GM's of both teams and all parties agreed a full nine innings will be played. This would never happen in a regular season game.

so bud meets with the gm's and they agree that the game should be 9 innings..........as i said he's making the rules as he goes!!! your second sentace actually contains the answer. i don't personally care either way but find the whole fcuking situation comical, kind of a blind leading the blind on a national stage for the world to see.

Exactly, the rules allow for flexibility in decision making for World Series games. 2 sets of rules, no flexibility for regular season games, flexibility for World Series games. By the way the same books that graded Philly a winner and T.B. a loser in game 5 have put up new game 5 lines. Pretty funny if you ask me, they have already say Philly won game 5 but now you can bet on Philly to win again. Very questionable. Wrong rule that needs to be changed. Book's rules should pararell baseball rules.
