when figuring a baseball parlay consisting of
totals only...(.20 cent line)

100 dollar 4 team baseball parlay
8u
9'o
7'
13

do you use a fixed odd pay-out (4-team 10-1 type) or do you convert each total to a decimal...(.83)

honestly i have always used a fixed odd payout in this case....(probably not a fair price)

i do convert the total to a decimal on mixed parlays ie.

mets -150
over 8 cards

bet x 1.66 x 1.83

thanks in advance

I am no parlay expert since I hate them & only play them on parlay cards locally but converting to decimal makes the most sense.

Yes you are right about using decimals. It is the easiest way to calculate a total payout by multiplying the decimals.

However make sure you know what the book uses. For example if the line is -110 some books use -110 and some 1.91. Since you have the option regarding how you choose to see the odds there might be a few pennies difference. For example -110 returns $190.91 (decimal 1.9090) and 1.91 returns $191 for $100. So in a 4 team parlay at -110 the calculation gives $1328.33 while 1.91 returns $1330.86.

I suspect William Hill uses English odds, e.g. 11/9 for calculation, since I often seem unable to calculate my EXACT payout and I never bother to display this archaic system.

Yes, you convert to a decimal, unless you have a FIT.

A FIT being EXACT money into an exact price.

Example:

Say you have a -120 parlayed to a -200 parlay and you bet $12.

Well, 12 would win you 10 giving you $22 and that $22 parlayed would win you $11 on the -200..........true FITS and no need for decimal.

Thus you would have $33 coming on this parlay compared to 32.9994 if you used decimal.

Using decimal would be 12 x 1.833 x 1.500 = 32.9994

Is it my post needs clarification?

Book A offers fixed odds of -110.

Book B offers fixed odds of of 1.91.

The returns are different.

If you always toggle the odds display to American style you might not realise that the underlying calculations are slightly different.

My apologies if I introduced unnecessary confusion.

They are with most locals...

I know my guy doenst adjust totals to be anything but -120....

Just like on foots, all sides are -110....with a pointspread....

not like online where u might get 49ers -3 for (-115), and jets +3 for (-105)...

I assume its the same with dpo, and the shop he is helping....

i have seen the light so to speak.....i just had a phone conversation with a man who told me i was using "bush league bookmaking tactics" and should be ashamed of myself....lol

but...

technically i can figure baseball parlays w/totals only, using a "fixed odd payout" since i deal totals at .20cent lines...(a fixed odd selection can be no more than -120)....so by parlaying only totals based on a 20 cent line, payouts from a fixed odd chart can be used.....but its not exactly a fair payout to the player......

like i said i have always converted totals to a decimal when they where parlayed with sides.......but not with totals only....its just the way i have always figured them...but since it has come under question...i will convert to a decimal....sorry for the confusion....
