An incentive based contract in today's baseball market for Bonds? The same market that gave a lifetime .240 hitter in Gary Matthews Jr $11/mill season guaranteed?

Hell would freeze over, before Bonds took an incentive based contract...its so rediculous that it wouldnt even be offered, Doug.

The Giants were only team that wanted him for his last contract several years ago when he was in his HGH prime. He is a team killer. Giants out bid themselves to sign this ass hole. He's a bigger choke in the playoffs than A-Rod has ever been.

Bonds had subpar stats during his Pirates' days...but A-Rod could only dream about the stats Bonds put up in the World Series against the Angels:

He batted .471 with six RBIs. He set the Series record for highest on base percentage (.700), highest slugging percentage (1.294), most intentional walks (7) and most walks (13). He tied the Series mark for most homers (4) and most runs (8).

Hard to call someone a choker, after that Playoffs/World Series...he did everything accept pitch releif in Game 7 to win it for the Giants.

Latest on Bonds' negotiations...pretty silly by the Giants, as well.

Trying to find out the supposed "mystery team" with interest in Barry Bonds, the Giants had club employees sent into the lobby to act as reporters at the winter meetings Friday.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the more they investigated, the more they were certain there was no such team. It's believed Bonds' agent, Jeff Borris, has softened his demands a bit in negotiations with the Giants. Still, there's quite a gap to be bridged.

How long can they keep Anderson? anyone know? is there a time limit?

Anyone jailed for contempt of court stays until the judge involved rescinds the order or until the contempt is purged. In other words indefinite detention.

It would be public relations and marketing suicide if the Giants let Bonds go and allow him to break Aaron's record in another teams jersey. The franchise sucks as it is, but they might as well spend one more year sucking in front of a packed house. If they were to let him go now they would alienate a lot of the fans that have stuck around through these past few mediocre seasons, and any money saved by not paying Bonds salary will be lost at the gate through falling attendance and lack of interest.

I could care less about this arrogant piece of garbage. He is a cancer from the word go. This is a TEAM sport. They are not the SF Bonds team.

Does he have talent, sure. With allot of chemical help. Just the wrong image to be sending to our children who love this game.

Al:
He had a great post-season in 2002. That made it one out of 7. He choked in all 6 other years. This from this bogus team cancer.
1990-.167/1 rbi in 6 games
1991-.148/0 rbi in 7games
1992-.261/2 rbi in 7 games and allowed a lame Sid Bream to score from second on his always shitty arm while he played deep against the 'great'Francisco Cabrera to lose the series.

1997- .250/2 rbi in 3 games
2000- .176 /1 rbi in 4 games
2003- .222/ 2 rbi in 4 games

Plus, all the while being the most detrimental non-team player in history and being a jerk to his teammates and fans.

Even his big stats late in his career should be thrown out as they still don't test for HGH which he is undeniably on since at least '98.

Bonds Owes The Giants Money

Bonds $18 mil contract included 2005. The Giants had to pay him 18 mil for 14 games of "work". Did he offer to give any of his salary back because of all his "days off". Yeah, sure. And now he has the nerve to want $14 million to play next year. The way I see it he owes the Giants money. In 2005, he played in less than 10% of the games he was paid to play. Assuming most full time players play in 90% of their teams games, Bonds owes the Giants 80% of his contract which is $14.4 million. Offer him 5 million for 2007, remind his agents about 2005, and if he dosen't take the 5 mil, let him walk.

The best thing for baseball is to not have him play next season, which assures the all time home run record will not belong to someone who atained it by using steorids. Assuming no other team will come back and try to sign Bonds if SF dosen't, Bonds dosen't play next year and Aarons record is safe. Bonds agents cannot come out and say it's a conspiracy by baseball to keep him from playing, because he was offered a contract to play, which he turned down.

As for the fans turning out in droves to see him try to break the record, most fans know he is a fraud and will feel the record is Aarons, regardless of what Bonds does next season. One of the large local bay area papers did a poll, asking readers what they want to see happen next season. The poll included choices of him playing for the Giants, him playing for another team and him not playing for anyone. It assumed he would break Aarons record if he did play. Almost half the readers, 48%, did not want him playing in 2007. I can imagine how fans outside of the San Francisco Bay Area feel about his playing or not playing.

One other reason why he shouldn't play anymore. He is worse than a jerk, the way he treats people and has always been that way and now it's the peoples turn to see him miss getting the record. One incident still comes to mind, which shows what a great guy Bonds is.

Remember the Home Run ball that tied Babe Ruths HR record. A 22 year old who is on active duty caught the ball. He had orders to go to Iraq two weeks after he caught the ball. He asked if Bonds would sign the ball for him. Bonds refused because he wanted the kid to give him the ball for a couple of bats or whatever and the kid, of course, turned him down. What I really would like to see is the Giants act stupid, like they mostly do, and sign hm to the 14 mil one year contract Bonds wants. Then, lets say a week before the season starts, the Federal Grand Jury finally gets around to indicting him for both perjury and tax envasion. Because these are serious felonies, baseball bans Bonds from playing until these charges are resoved. I can dream, can't I.

Is it too late to send this POS to Iraq? Maybe he can try to swat some nice roadside IEDs with a Louisville slugger.

It amazes me that there are enough fools in the world that would pay money to see this ass hole. Giants were only one bidding on his services in his LAST K. Even Big George wouldn't spend money on this piece of human waste because of what he does to a team.

nearly everyone here would pay to see bonds if he played for your home team.

No they wouldn't. You have no basis to make that conclusion. i wouldn't walk across the street to see him for free. If baseball owners had any integrity or balls he wouldn't be allowed to play at all.
