Do you know how many civilians have beeen killed in Afghanistan and if so, how many of those were actually killed by the Taliban? You really don't have any idea Baragenda. I'm being very honest with you...you really have no idea what you're talking about.
True story here. I was sitting in Afghanistan one Winter morning when a report came in from local Afghan media that said a Taliban spokesman claimed 7 Afghan construction workers had been killed by a stray U.S. bomb. What did we do? We called the local hospitals and there wasn't one report of injuries or fatalities brought to the hospital. We went to our operations division and asked them what missions they'd flown in the area of the reported fatalities. Guess what? Not one mission in that area in the last 24 hours.
See, we don't want to believe it but the Taliban propaganda machine is not held to a higher standard. They simply call the media and report what they want. It is what it is. You can tell me I'm full of shit all you'd like and that's fine but I lived it for half a year. I was there and witnessed what I witnessed. These people kill people without any care in the world. They have no remorse or sorrow at all. You read something on a website and call it a day without an a true representation of what is going on.
So, what you are saying is that the stories of collateral damage involving the deaths of Afghanistan civilians are actually propaganda? I have two immediate family members who served in Afghanistan who seen a different Afghanistan then you and these guys are not flaming liberals by any stretch.

No Fletch, that's not what I'm saying. What I'm saying is that the numbers reported are somewhat exagerated. Why is that? Definately propaganda plays a role with a serious lack of professional journalism to research their reports. Some may report from the left and some are lazy while others are just not experienced or don't care. Do civilian deaths happen? Sure they do but not at the reported numbers and not all at the hands of NATO or the U.S.
Wouldnt you have to say that propaganda happens with all governments and all groups that are big enough? Or do you think the US Government (the military that is) is not involved with creating propaganda? If so, then i would assume the propaganda angle is a wash.

Not exactly Fletch. Are there information operations that occur in the U.S. Military? Yes there are. Do we call the media and claim the enemy killed say 10 civilians? No we don't. Has it happened throughout history? Probably but not often. IO campaigns involve dropping leaflets and putting out false information to mislead the enemy but there is a line that you can't cross. There are different levels (believe it or not) of IO campaigns.
