I read a book "Gambling and Taxes" or something like that. They talked about how high rollers can get in trouble with the IRS if they don't document and report their losses each year. Even if you are a net loser, the IRS wants those losses reported, even though there are no tax benefits for doing so.

They probably want to gauge how much you're dropping just in case they audit you from out of nowhere one day?????

It seems very simple that these guys need to come to the RX! It sure as hell won't hurt. These former and some current athletes think that just because they played the game that they KNOW something that we don't. LT:cryingcry :monsters-

Don't be naive, I bet alot more high-profile people read this forum daily than you think. Some of them, we wouldn't want them to read here. Like baseball players getting a feel for what public perception is on gameday.

I heard that he got a sports manager fired over this bet. Apparantly the manager took the bet from Sir Charles without checking to see what his available credit was. Well it was over his limit and they couldn't reverse the bet. I remember reading it was $100,000 on the moneyline and another $400,000 with the points. After he won this bet the guy who took the bet was on the sidewalk the next day!!

I think that is made out to be a bigger deal because of the size of the amount. $10,000,000 is a boatload to some and maybe a few months salary to another. I'm sure that charles can make $10 Mil a year in appearance fees, autograph signings, and write another book. Maybe $10Mil to him would be $5000 to a guy that makes $30k a year. I know that I gamble alot higher than him in according to my yearly earnings.

I wonder if the internet bill is going to get more steam with these pro athletes opening talking about gambling!!!

The ML had to be at least +400 on that game. How much did he win in total on this bet?

I saw a Chris Myers interview with Barkley about a year ago. He said that one of his goals in life is to accumulate 100 million in assets. I doubt he will let this ruin his life. I have always loved Sir Charles. Always speaks his mind about everything, and I agree with most of what he has to say.

Barkely made 43 million dollars playing basketball. Another 20 or so making commericals for companies like Nike there is no way he is pulling 10 million in appearance fees since he is either in Pho playing golf or in Vegas most weekends so losing 10 million to him is alot its easily about 20% of his combimed net worth.

That happens when you have too much money to spare. Blowing thousands at a time are like pennies to them. They have too many zeros in their bank account to think they are betting too much.

I think it is laughable that the various panels for the different sports come out with 'tips' to who they think will win and that people actually bet that crap. Most 'experts' couldn't beat the spread to save their life.

:missingte Please, bro, nobody on salary is earning $10mil every few months!
Guys that make $10mil in a few months are NOT doing it on salary :missingte

Not to mention, no way can Barkley recoup that kind of money that quickly. Former presidents make only a few hundred thousand TOPS for speaking, you think Barkley's making anything more than $10k? Not a chance.
