What is it about 'socialism' under a Barack Obama presidency that has some people so concerned? Is it the health care? I can't think of anything else. In my state, if your income level is low enough, you qaulify for free care under a health plan that rivals most major corperations employee program.

Is it not safe to say that America REALLY is already a social country, and has been for some time now?!

Me personally. I think America IS a social country and we absolutely suck at it.

Funk You are 100% correct....What bothers me is Under Obama we WILL become even more socialist....and in case anyone has forgotten...America was/is founded on CAPITALISM

I think folks will look back in 4 years and say what the hell have we done!

In 1776 the economy was agrarian. That lends its self to capitalism.

Even then there were things that were Government owned because private enterprise could not do them profitably. The were Defense, post office and some construction-road building.

As things have grown more complex more industries prove that they cannot provide services at an affordable price and the government has to step in if those services are essential to the citizens.

At the present time the medical industry comes to mind.

This country was never founded as a capitalist country only. It was formed as a free democracy.

I find it funny that Obama is a socialist because he wants to raise marginal rates by 3% from 36% to 39% for those making over $250K. As if the socialist barrier is crossed at 37.5% or something. During the 1940's through the 70's the top marginal rate was 80-90%.

Corporate taxes should be high.

You want corporations to invest in growth or distribute the money to the stockholders.

And there healthcare is horrible

You cannot continue to pile on heavier taxes to corporations....Like I stated we have the second highest in the WORLD already

It is so simple its scary, but someone people refuse to believe until UE is 12.5% and everyone is running around saying how did this happen, we'll it happend because you taxed the sh*t out of corporations and they either left for the Virgi Islands OR fired 10K people

Answer is directly above....You are hurting the shareholders, by decreasing dividends(80% of people are invested in the market)....AND MOST IMPORTANT

Throughout history Raising Corp Taxes has LOWERED Gov't REVENUE

Why in the world would you want lower revenue???

Please go and look it up...you will see Increase corp taxes = Decrease revenue...

In fact it was a question in the democratic primary that barack Couldn't answer i will post the link and make it real easy for you

You asked what I know about Europe, so i stated I lived in Europe.....if you would like me to expand I can go on(Not that it matters but I have dual degree from Wharton School of buisness)

And it really would be pointless to discuss how F'ed european economics are at this point.


The point was America is NOT a socialist country, but we are heading "faster than a speeding bullet towards it"
