Betfair Know Your Customer policy (Anti-Fraud, Responsible Gaming, Money Laundering)

Sometimes there is so much mis-information out there it makes my head spin...

Let me please address the issues RE: Betfair:

We have a Know Your Customer Policy at Betfair - it's imposed by the British Government and they are real sticklers. We need to abide by their rules and regs in order to keep our gambling license. Also a UK gambling license in a regulated environment is something we take pretty seriously.

So we ask for proof of address, etc. that way, we can make sure you are who you say and there is no illegal activity related to your account. You are allowed to bet but as soon as you want to withdraw we ask that you confirm all of of your information by sending us scans.

If you used a CIBC credit card or a BMO card you should have been auto-age verified. Which card did you use?

Also, we have a new setup that auto-age verifies Canadians every week so if you place a few bets and simply withdraw 7-10 days, NO need to send us docs anymore - you should be auto-verified.

Anyway, as mentioned above Betfair does not kick winners out like a Bookie will if you win. We are an exchange so we make money every time your bet is matched. It's you versus someone else not you versus a Bookie - Betfair makes a commission on every matched bet - like eBay.

If you send me your account ID, I can check notes on your account to get the full story.

There's something odd with the description above - something doesn't seem right to me.

Or send me your account info to canadamanager@betfair.com

Thanks,

So finally a response from Betfair with a ridiculous request for :
Passport information (I don't have a passport)
Drivers license information (I don't drive, nor have a license)
Utility bill (utilities are covered by condo fees)
Bank statement (I don't get paper statements)
and a photocopy of my credit card.

I thought Betfair was supposed to be Canada friendly?

so I told them to refund all funds including winnings to the credit card on file and once completed I will never use Betfair again.

Sorry guys, stay far away from this book.

didnt know you could live in today's world without some form of ID.....most people could at least give 4 of those 5 thing in a matter of seconds

I lived in big cities all my life and having a car wasn't feasible, so I actually didn't even need a driver's license until I was in my 30s. I did have a government issued ID, but on more than one occasion I had a problem using it because the company asking for the ID insisted on an actual driver's license.

People from bumblefuck often don't realize that in a city like New York having a car can be more hassle than it's worth. I still remember taking a trip to the southern US and talking to some guy in a bar who kept trying to talk to me about cars and I said "I don't drive, having a car in New York is a real hassle" and the guy just didn't get it, he kept asking me what kind of car I had, and then wondered how the heck I'd gotten there if I didn't have a car.

my guess is doug keeps bettign parlays at heritage and they keep shorting him a dollar or two on the payouts, so he has to phone in the corrections. Im sure hes pissed off about it, but he knows they have that issue, but continues to bet them. I imagine he kept askign them why they cant fix it or expressing his anger, and in return got that email response from them.

am i wrong doug?

Can I ask a question about this topic?

What is the kick out or boot point at Heritage and BetJamaica?

I have heard they will boot you if you win a certain amount or exhibit certain behavior. what is the amount they will let you win at these books? 15-20K at each book? more? less?

It seems there are many knowledgeable people here. Thank you for the information.
