Listening to some of the radio shows today from all over the place and it seems not many giving ole miss a chance. Heard on Finebaum last time bama went 2 years w/o beating ole miss was like 1909. Ole Miss won one and they tied the next year. I am still a firm believer Saban is not a great X's and O's guy. He can recruit with anyone but in game coaching adjustments is not his best IMO. It's been 3 years now and his defenses still haven't adjusted to the evolution of the many new offensive schemes IMO. His teams are still physically built for old style football, 3 yards and a cloud of dust. Big lines, big running backs.. Wisconsin was a great match up for them, a team who wants to try and pound the ball against you, no speed at skill and not a mobile QB. Bama will physically destroy that type of a team. Their D is so big upfront and LB. Not built for the stretch or vertices passing game off it.. Just my opinion. The game has changed so much the last 3/4 years..

So after having ting said all of that, what happens IF Ole Miss shocks the world? What would it mean if the top dog of the sec falls out of top 6/7. Can another SEC climb the ladder to top 4? What would it mean to bama? For a nation of fans it's national championship or bust. Last two years ended badly by their standards as most would be happy to be there. If the season ended w/o a spot in the top 4 what would that mean to the tide nation? Would they start thinking Sabans best days are behind him?

Could not not help but wonder about this last night. An ole miss upset could really turn things upside down... Curious what some of the Bama fans think. Personally I will be rooting for ole miss as my friends son is the engram kid. I was hoping he would have a big year so he could entertain thought about the NFL. He is a good ball player but even a better person..

I actually like Ole Miss. Grabbed the TD earlier this morning but will also go back and play them on the ML. Couple thoughts as to why. I don't think Bama has any skilled players that will cause Rebels to have to double or change coverage. Not like Amari Cooper is walking into that locker room next saturday. The other thing is I want to see the Bama run game versus a high quality DL (no offense Wisky). Also, I think the Rebel skill players are just flat out better. I keep hearing that the Bama secondary is improved, and that their DL is better, I don't think so and it's not showed so far. They'll be tested and I think they'll break. Also, the QB while not flashy and doing anything complicated, still continues to make bad reads. They've not to this point shown the ability to stretch the field. I believe they'll have to do so to loosen up the Rebel defense. I just think QB Kelly has been more impressive (granted against lesser talent) but they've atleast allowed him to stretch the field. I think thats big.
Finally, the PK is really struggling. I don't believe he's successfully made a FG this year. What happens when he HAS TO make one?
How will that affect the play calling when they get close and what mistakes will it lead to?

I have called 13 of the last 15 Bama sides correctly and it is obvious my love for my team. But when you analyze the two teams and where they are today with the players they are choosing to play...the wrong team is favored. We have a weaker link at QB than we did last year. Adam is mind fucked and can't hit the broad side of the barn with a kick. Our front 7 is a monster against the run, but 2/3 of the area in our secondary is like a open door...they have an equal defense and an offense that is clicking. I see ole miss by 10-14 points and I am unloading my max bet of 6000 on ole miss when our Bama inflated line gets to -8.

Two games without beating them, not two years. They've only played 62 times.

I'm an OM graduate and fan. In the first couple of games OM has given up a few big rushing plays but I think they have played a very vanilla defensive scheme, I still think Henry gets his yardage but I'm not sure that will be enough for Bama. I think the key to this game will depend on Kelly's play when he has pressure put on him by the Bama front 7. If he has time to throw and stays cool under pressure, I think OM wins. Bama can't win this game in a shootout, if Bama can keep Kelly rattled, they win, if not, they lose.

I'm 48 y/o and this very well could be OM's best team in my life time. Our history shows that we lose in Tuscaloosa and very well could this Saturday but I'm throwing history out the window in this game.

I love this comment of, Soup Nazi! :ok:

The big bully, Alabama, has always been beating up on your team, Mississippi, in the conference. Then there's this year, where that team of your's really is the "best" version of the team in your lifetime. I'm confident when I say this year's team is the best Ole Miss one I've seen in my lifetime. While I'm a Southern Cal alum and lifer, I watch a ton of college ball from all the conferences. I've watched Ole Miss' first two games this season in their entirety due to me betting them. Yes, I realize those games were against inferior opponents. However, I saw a very "special" energy and synergy among the players. Dominant. Can't put my finger on it. They look like they're destined for probably one of their best seasons ever.

This coming Saturday they'll be primed and ready, especially Ole Miss' D. I feel this game will go down to the proverbial wire, and will be settled by a FG. I'm waiting for the line to get to 7 or hopefully 8 before I pounce on Mississippi.
I wish you and your alma mater the best of luck! :toast:

For the first time in my life we match up or better than Bama at QB, Overall defense, and skill players... With Tunsil out the key will be if we can protect Kelly.. Bamas front 7 is real but theyre weaker than usual in the back end.

The 2 questions are can ole miss protect enough to get the ball to our playmakers and can Bama get the down hill run going and gash us...

The Wild Card is Bryant Denny: We have a freshman right guard and tackle starting because of the Tunsil issue.

Our team is as close as one can be and they have bought in.... RN, Connor, Tunsil, and Treadwell all came to put us on the map.... Going to be one hell of a game

Interesting stat... This week is the first time since 2007 that Alabama isn't the favorite to win the game at home using the ESPN FPI metric

I dont put too much stock in that historical trend that ole miss has never won 2 in a row. This was not an annual played game until the 92 expansion. In fact these 2 teams have only met 62 times , which is far less than the number of times bama has played some east division teams such as vandy and georgia.

As a Bama fan i'm very , Very , VERY worried about this game. With the jury still out on auburn and lsu , its "possible" that ole miss is the toughest game on our schedule (although cant rule out ga and a&m also) .... Any way you look at it , this is one of the 5 toughest games on the shedule of a team that figures to lose 1 or 2. ....VERY WORRIED !

Hopefully home field and small revenge factor will help. RTR !

chad kelley...do u trust him in this environment?

That's the million dollar question that we all will find out Saturday night. Personally, I do but that doesn't mean squat. I'm not really worried about Kelly, I'm more worried if our OL can give him the time to get comfortable and make his reads. Everyone knows that Saban will try to keep him under pressure and guessing where that pressure is going to come from. I don't think our guys will be intimidated going into Bryant Denny, I actually think they are looking forward to it as crazy as that may sound. 99% of the time I would chalk this up as a loss but as I said earlier this is the best OM team I've ever seen (better than last years that won in Oxford) and I'm throwing history out the window on this one. If not for the history in this series, I think Bama would be a 3 point favorite because of home field. OM has a very good chance of leaving with a W Saturday night. I really like the ML on this game.

Some interesting comments - take this homers opinion for what it is worth. Don't bet Miss this weekend. Just don't do it. Take your wife out to dinner or buy something nice for yourself. Just wait and see.

Clemson fan here and I have had to read about Swag Kelly for 2 years at Clemson. I personally think he makes the Rebels a better team than Bo Wallace. I picked Ole Miss to win the West and I'm going to stink with my guns here and taking the ML.

i usually don't bet the big hype regular season games and this one wont be any different but as a fan I am looking forward to watching this one. Bama is Bama but we will find out a lot about ole miss.. I think they are a good team but not sure they are ready to take bamas crown. TBH i think this is the only team with a chance to beat Bama in the west. Auburn is a dumpster fire as is LSU at QB and I am not buying in to AM yet. Its hard to win with out a QB but it can be done as far as Auburn and LSU. I will be curious to see what LSU does when Bama slams the door shut on Fournette, can Harris beat anyone throwing the ball? what was he 10/15 @miss st for 70 yards? I think the east is still up in the air and can see Kentucky, Georgia, and UT in a fight there. Mizzu has been the biggest beneficiary the last few year but this year may be a little tougher for them..

100% honesty here... i love watching sec football because top to bottom it is the best but I am so tired of hearing "some" of their fans about how any sec team is superior to any other and that is just not true... I will be watching saturday and looking forward to a battle.

Position by position advantage (my opinion; would be interested in others)

QB - Ole Miss
RB - Bama
WR - Ole Miss
TE - Ole Miss (barely; both teams with a really good one)
OL - Bama

DL - Push (both outstanding)
LB - Bama
DB - OM

K - Ole Miss
P - Ole Miss has a good one. No idea about Bama's to be honest.

Homefield - huge advantage for Bama's (HUGE)

OSU , be glad you dont live down here and have to listen to it all the time.

Saturday i posted something on fb , laughing at the auburn score and glad that tennessee lost , and i was bombarded by people telling me i should be ashamed of myself and that i should represent for the conference. .... I wear a bama hat , but i dont chant SEC SEC SEC !

...And heres the real kicker , today i posted that Ky hasnt beat Fla since 1986 , and Ky hasnt started 2-0 in conf play since 1977 , and then posted that i was rooting for Ky , and all the other bama fans told me i should pull for fla b/c they have 2 former bama coahes.

Hehe , these are the most patriotic sumbotches you'll ever see. lol
