Anyone familiar with the original version of China Girl (on Iggy Pop's 1977 album "The Idiot") knows David Bowie's version on "Let's Dance" was a complete abomination. Even though he co-wrote it with Jim Ostenberg (I'm guessing most don't know who that is. Nonetheless, I once walked down the street with him huddled beneath my Umbrella). I'd nominate Bowie's version for the worst cover of all time.
