Be careful Dante my man, Shrink is a man of age and it might not be prudent to upset him saying you're fading his ass...

... Carry on, though...

Thanks for the good wishes, my man. Family is away, but well.

As for your tagline, you're basically saying that the ass you kick today might very well be the ass you have to kiss tomorrow???

True words, if I ever read any...

If they cancel it, so what. You get the same thing if they cancel as you do telling them about it...NOTHING.

I usually don't bet bad lines myself, but I have on some occasions. Pinnacle had a lot of them awhile back, they had been getting a lot better, but they still have two or three a week.

All I know is that when I bet, I make sure I copy my tickets and verify the odds/line. I think they shouild do the same before they put them up to be bet. How hard is it to prrofread this stuff? Especially if that is your ONLY job?

Sure mistakes happen, but not as frequently as they have been.

But I certainly wouldn't waste my time telling them aline is bad, and I surely wouldn't expect anything if I did.

i agree with the initial poster. next time this happens, take the +3 on the other team for the max. i don't believe in calling a book and telling them about a bad line anyway. they will cheat players when the player loses playing on the "bad line" and keep the players' money when it is a losing bet in the end. if the book goes out of its way to take a shot at the player, you can be sure i am not going to go out of my way to notify them of an error in THEIR programming.

McM: same thing happenned to me a while back. I don't think you are out of line in expecting them to toss you maybe $20, esp. for a book that has no phone. I don't think it is comparable to telling someone they left their lights on.

The line can be off at Pinny, on only one side.

The kicker is they don't even thank you for reporting it, in my case they insisted it was right. The game was SD Padres - 1.5 and almost -300, when ML was like -150 or so. A thank you would have sufficed, but I got e-mail saying it was correct. Last time I point it out for them. What team is ever -1.5 -300 in MLB ? I can't honestly recall seeing -1.5 -150, that's about the highest I could imagine any team favored by.

Betting into a bad line can only lead to problems no matter what book is involved. Why anyone would do so is beyond me. Bringing up a line that is obviously wrong to a books attention is voluntary in any case, any reward to someone doing so is also volantary on the books part. Personally I would refuse a small parlay or some such reward. Furture considerations - eg. opps I bet the wrong side well before post, and the line has not moved, so can I change my bet, (if allowed) would be a nice reward.

Wil: I doubt a book is going to remember you advised them 3 months previously of a bad line.

In theory all bets are off on the bad line, depriving the book of their theoretical hold % on lots of money. A little token for the guy bringing it to the books attention seems called for. I agree betting into a questionable ( not totally bad) line isn't a great practice. Sometimes it's difficult to determine the difference between an opinionated line, and an off line. I'm not sure where the line should be drawn +3 instead of -3 is clearly wrong ( any sport).

+1 0r -1 in NFL isn't as clear, that would be harder to call bad line on.

I sent a bad line alert to pinnacle this morning (Seattle -3 instead of SEA +3 for the first half WNBA) and they just responded with a 'thank you for your concern'?! I really expected a Bonus Bet, or something like that. Most books will give you a Bonus Bet in this situation.

MC, you gave away your "free" bet when you reported it........

Everybook seems to handle this differently. Don't take it personally. Bet the line THEN call them next time, they may let the bet stand (if of average size) as your comp.

This is the best thing to do. Bet it and then contact them immediately. If they cancel your bet, big deal, don't whine about it. But they may let it stand. Many books do "stand by their lines" (any reputable book really should IMO...you book it, you honor it.) Then you get the good line, and they are happy you reported it, everyone wins.

I wouldn't make a habit of betting into bad lines without reporting it unless you don't care about being booted.

I sent Pinnacle a correction once, not even expecting anything and they credited my account $50. Maybe it's because they knew I would not take shots at them.
It wasn't even a bad line it was just a listing error with the wrong team.
I think they are classy and at the top of the offshore class.

as it was stated before on another thread, this rewarding for "helping out" reporting a bad line, might lead to a new kind of bonus hores
