blah. first of all, i gotta admit that i'm not a very good player. i could be if i could stick with a certain style, but i lack that discipline and patience. there is way too much variance for me in cash games. that's why i'm sticking to low dollar tourneys right now, more as a way to protect my money and hopefully to get better as far as my patience and discipline. if i could consistently cash in these low level tourneys -- even if it's just a buck or two -- hopefully that will help me to get better at the cash games.

i'm also notorious for going on tilt about once a week and turning into a straight up ass.

i haven't really given the SNGs much of a chance, although it's hard to argue with the success a lot of people seem to have. multi tabling pisses me off -- i'll be in the middle of a nice pot, and then the screen pops up for another hand, and then another hand, and i'll be like "FUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKK"

but yeah, i'll probably experiment with the SNGs once i get bored with the 3 and 4 hour MTTs with nothing to show

catching no cards in this tourney, started out with 3k, sitting with 2800 right now, going to do a double add on at the break which will put me to around 6800 and middle of the pack.

ive avoided rebuy/addon tourneys best i could while i tried to hone my skills.its one less thing to worry about. but today i searched for the 'best deals' and seems any worthwhile tourney i have to deal with it. playing ft daily dollar for first time today

do you rebuy/addon as much as you can when possible? is that the consensus strat?

so far this rebuy is some bullshit. 30 minutes in, ive wiped out 3 people and ive only 2 times the average stack

i add on at the start and try to play solid. try to catch a hand against people trying to double up. way i see it, if you play like a wild man early, you're lobble to go through 5 or 6 buy ins (i've seen some go through more) before doubling up, then you have to go really deep just to make your money back. you have a better chance (IMO) to wait and catch a big hand instead of playing wild, chances are someone's gonna double or triple you up. on the downside, when you do catch a monster, you're still likely to be up against 4 or 5 callers trying to get lucky (even if you move all in) -- never a good spot to be in, even with pocket aces.

i usually do a double add on at the break unless i'm lucky to have a deep stack (say about the top 20%), then i'll let it ride. so, most of the time, these $1 tourneys cost me $4...it annoys me to see some guy play 8/5 and get tripled up on the first hand

i did rebuy at start and addon just now at addon break. about 1200/2700 left but it feels like i should be a lot higher,ive won some big hands. lost kk to aa once too though on an all in call

whats the tourney you been playin? is it a daily on stars?

Give ya a tip on some rebuys. At Cake Network they have 1hr extended registration and small fields. Ive entered MTTs with 1 min till the break took the rebuy and add-on and was in like 35th place of 70 players in a tourny paying 30 and hadnt played a hand yet...
At Absolutey you can tell in just a few mins if u have any gamblers at ur table or not...a lot of the players are not even going to rebuy, they go 1 and done. So if u are able to get a decent stack and then take the dbl add-on most times u come out the break in the Top 5 players...You have to kinda look ahead and see what the projected payouts will be...If the damn tourny is a $3 rebuy and say the Top 5 get at least $30 then 5 rebuys and an addon is not a lot of money to have invested...
Thats how i get the 200K seats...$15 rebuys and nobody wants to rebuy or addon....Its a $220 seat, winning it for even $100 is a great deal....but i doubt ive ever had more than $60 in 1.....
Stars is a whole nother deal...huge fields, filled with gamblers and if i win a seat in anything for less than 150% of the buyin im shocked...

i been playing the $1 at UB that starts at 1 p.m. CT.....i agree with what ppp said, 2 out of the 3 days i've played in this tourney, i could have bought in right before the break and then added on, and would have had a deeper stack than playing for an hour and then adding on.

i'm also trying to figure the value of this: you have a 2k GTD for $1 (rebuys) that usually gets between 600-700 players and pays 126 spots (you need to finish in the top 8 to win anything decent).....they also have a 2k GTD for $5 (no rebuys) that usually gets around 150 players.....

since i spend $4 on the rebuy tourney, i wonder if i might have more success spending an extra dollar and entering with a smaller field....

thinking about hopping into the 4k for $3 (rebuys).....

i need to get better in the mid parts of tourneys. yesterday i was the chip leader at my table for a good 20 minutes but failed to take advantage of it, just bled my chips away. think i'm doing pretty well in the early stages, but the middle and late stages i seem to limp along.~~:<<

another thing i could do that would probably help is pay more attention at the table so that i could see who's bluffable and what not. a lot of times, especially when i go through a prolonged stretch of folding garbage, i will minimize the screen and surf the net or throw the ball to the dog a few times until i get dealt in again. by not paying attention, i really don't have any clue as to who is playing what, which makes it even harder to get chips when the cards are cold.

on these dollar tourneys at UB, if you can build a stack to about 20 to 25k, you could hit the sit out button and not play another hand and almost be guaranteed to finish in the money.....

yeah, that information would help a lot. i really need a hud myself. a FREE one. ive downloaded 4-5 that were suppose to be free and always a catch. i used poker tracker for the free period but never fully set it up and now my trial is over. didnt even use it cause of the clutter

also got a seat to FT'S 2k freeroll on sunday.....their qualifier is pretty easy to beat, they run several a day, top 250 get a ticket.....

you're gonna be in a field of about 20k if you win a seat though (i went out on the 2nd hand last week, goddamn A/K knocked out by 33)....still trying to win a 2k free roll seat at poker stars, but keep coming up short

wish ub offered a free roll that pays more than 50 bucks
