Hey Bet,

Interesting question. Have not given this much thought. Two things I believe for sure.......

The clip mentions 2-4% of the population have gambling problems. Seems low to me.

And more importantly (and I'm pretty sure of this one) ...... whatever that number truly might be.....

Casinos (and lotto, etc) are doing everything in their power to damage more people and families every day.

Disclosure - Didn't watch video.

People get addicted for the thrill and rush it gives them when they win, especially when they have some miracle comeback from sure defeat. They get addicted when they win several in a row and feel they can't be beat. They get addicted when they lose a few and press to get the money back and do it. They ultimately get crushed when it works the first few times and it doesn't sooner or later.

People get addicted when they hear other people won big money and why can't it happen to them. IE Daily Lottery, Scratch Cards, Powerball.

The lure of easy or quick money opportunity.

People get addicted out of SHEER BOREDOM.

I would venture the majority of sportsbettors can't watch a game without having a wager on it. The game would be boring and not fun to watch without some type of monetary action on it.

Hotpizza, About the only other thing you could say bad is....... and all forms of gambling will give you cancer of the bung hole. You will be stricken in seconds.

You pretty much got this figured out. But, like smoking, people are getting killed wholesale, and still nobody can seem to quit.

I agree on the lottery thing. More so with the keno style games where they draw a new game every 3 minutes... Or whatever it is.

Speaking of KENO....

Gotta love a casino game you can play upstairs, in the restaurant, or........ can you even play that crap while you are taking a CRAP?

Does make lots of sense though, worst odds in the history of the world...... a wet raccoon could be taught to play it..... and the access is SOOOOO easy!

Perfect fit for a gambling game!

It becomes a problem because to a sports fan and non gambler looking to make money, it seems so simple. So simple that in fact, one of maybe my first 10 online bets was a 12 team ATS parlay at a D+ rated book. I know, it was stupid but then I didn't know. Never went to a forum, never knew anyone that regularly bet, etc.
