The crew and the calls in the GA vs Auburn were absolutely horrendous. They need to be given some time off. I wouldn't let them do a junior high game

Burn scored a TD, the ball clearly broke the goal line. They call it a fumble

Then they have 4 reviews on the ensuing GA drive, giving GA 7 timeouts in the final minutes of the first half. Two personal fouls on Burn helped that drive

In the second half, Smart runs towards the ref signaling time out. They grant him his final timeout with one second on the play clock. He then argues he was only clapping. They give him his timeout back AND allow GA to call a play and lineup to run the play. Without duress. He was essentially awarded more extra timeouts. Kirby Smart is a lying POS, I'll never look at him the same way again.

The ball doesn’t clearly cross the goal line. It starts moving before he crosses it. He lost it on his own with a bobble and then it’s punched out. Should’ve been a UGA TD actually. The other calls on that drive were correct.

The extra timeout was weird but UGA didn’t end up using that timeout and also ended up losing yards on that drive anyway and missing a FG. So people can cry about that call but it had zero impact on the game.

Refs also miss a blatant offside on a 4th down for UGA that resulted in a turnover on downs

Auburn had one first down in the second half outside of the final drive - that’s why they lost - not any calls.

I was sitting next to a referee who has done college and high school games for almost 35 years and he thought the crew last night was horrendous! He said most of the SEC refs got their jobs through the good ole boy network and once you get in your set because the people scoring you are ex SEC refs.

The ball clearly crossed the line, and at least 90% of people thought so from all fan bases, even Auburn haters. From stand alone pictures, it's easy to see. I haven't seen one TV analyst think otherwise either, so we're just going to have to agree to disagree. That's OK

The general consensus is that the officials were awful, and I expect Auburn to get another apology from the SEC

The most important thing about Smart's outright cheating when it came to the timeout was not about getting the timeout back, it was about stopping the clock and letting GA get organized to run the next play with composure and not haste and without a 5 yard penalty either, HUGE difference, which was the same thing that happened 4x on the last drive of the first half.

I agree Auburn sucked in the 2nd half, but maybe at 17-0 it would have been different. Momentum is huge, we'll never know because it was stolen from them. Again

Just watch the replay of the fumble - the ball is loose he then is trying to extend without possession and it’s punched out. It’s very close but that’s just not the case. Don’t watch for when UGA punches it out but watch for when he loses possession before that.

With the timeout, Kirby did call time out - you see him signaling it - so either way it was going to be a timeout rather than a penalty. Kirby claims he was saying the defense was clapping - not sure about that but UGA shouldn’t have kept the timeout but it didn’t impact the game at all. UGA ended up missing a FG that drive so there wasn’t a huge impact and actually zero impact on the game.

HI GUYS AND GIRLS,

As week 1 ends, I got to thinking about has anyone ever tried to do a thread like this.

1..say the bad beat
2..show the bad call videos (if you got them) that would be cool
3...SHOW TIX (OPTIONAL)
4.... (open for anything)

I think this would be cool...we have ALL BEEN THERE....so NO DISSIN' aloud ..

NOW, I'm NOT tech savvy so I'll need serious help answering questions or helping..

but could be cool, idk..

WHAT DO YOU"LL THINK..

yes...or...no....

MODS...feel free to dump if not cool here...

ps..I don't have any myself...

I definitely would be on board with the thread if it didn't get out of control. Bad beats don't have to occur in the last few minutes. I have watched many games where calls in the 1st through 4th quarters are suspect.

It's amazing how games are officiated at times, how clock operators do their jobs and how coaches (or their staff) miss things during the game that precursors the outcome.

I have said for years that replay gives the leagues more control over officiating because of it's subjective nature.
yeah i feel the same way replay was meant to fix mistakes but half the time it just makes things more confusing feels like they decide what they want to call instead of what actually happened

Hey CP hope you have been well. I would think Atlanta bettors like myself felt like shit. Atlanta scores only to give it back to Tampa to score in the final minutes. I did not have a great week. Had Miami and more than likely won't play them again this year. They got toasted
yeah tough week man atlanta really let that one slip away and miami looked flat all game hoping next week turns things around

FWIW, old news now

Last week, the lead referee from the Auburn vs Georgia game was suspended (read fired) for the rest of the year

Since he previously announced he was retiring, his career is over

What a way to leave the profession. Reminds me of Joe Biden's debate performance. Long careers come to a sudden stop while they're still alive and kicking, but entirely their own fault
