Sometimes our time capping, due diligence and plain old guts leaves us still in the loss column. I was all over Kansas City this weekend and was a big loser. This was a really bad loss because there was a lot of uncalled holding on Denver's key offensive possessions. Did you see the holding on QUentin Griffin's 25 yard touchdown run. Had the holding been called KC would have won the game. What do you expect in Denver, however? GRRRRRRRR

My reasoning was as follows:
1. Denver isn't starting John Elway. Inconsistent Jake Plummer will be at the helm
2. If Denver gets completely shut out on the run then KC has a good chance of winning
3. If Gonzalez, Morton et al. can burn the Denver secondary, then Denver's chances dont look good
4. If the run is shut down, then Jake has to throw. What if he gets picked for a td or 2. again, looks good for KC.
5. Priest Holmes, probably the best back in the leaugue. WHat if he runs for 150+ yards? Again, not looking good for Denver fans and bettors.

Don't you hate it when all of your good capping goes down the drain with poor officiating? There aint nothing I can do about that. There is no way to say what if the officals are incompetent. This happens to everyone so I am taking this in stride. Good luck to eevryone for the rest of the season

well, I agree with you to a certain extent. The thing is, Denver ALWAYS gets away with that shit and especially in Denver. You had to factor in that Denver would do well on the ground against K.C.'s terrible run defense. I was on K.C. as well. What I didn't expect was Denver's D putting the clamp on Trent Green, and Denver's passing offense to continue to do that well even without Sharp and McCaffrey. Denver should have won that game by a lot more if it wasn't for the turn-overs. They kicked their ass all over the field. It was a bad pick.

i agree with you 100% - but i think you have it in REVERSE! not even you can say the refs made a pathetic call on the long pass to Ediie Kennison in the first minute, or two, of the game, where he caught it, got up and as he did - was hit and fumbled - and the refs ruled him down by contact even though NO ONE ELSE saw it that way. the blown call allowed KC to keep the ball and KC scored a TD and went up 7-0. then when denver had the ball on the next possession quentin griffin was hit 3 feet out of bounds and nothing was called and denver then settled for 3 - and not the probable 7 they woulda gotten if this call was made.

so for you to gripe about how bad the refs were you should look in the mirror and realize the bad calls went both ways - and to be honest with you - denver was the right side all along and you made a bad call by playing KC and are trying to find someone to blame other than yourself.

Sorry. He was down by contact and I did see it that way. Who had a better vantage point? The official just a few feet away from the action or winkyduck watching on his tv? Aue contraire, what about the holding on Denver? Wouldn't the officials have a better vantage point than ftbl333? No they would not. They simply didn't watch the action carefully, thus missing the holding calls that ftbl333 saw.

put down the bong, dude! NO ONE here will back up your claim he was down by contact. NO ONE touched him until he got BOTH knees off the ground. the guys doing the game on TV RIPPED the official for the call and i promise you if you thought he was down by contact - the ref who called the play - AND YOU - were the ONLY TWO people watching the game who saw it that way. i'll bet my life that EVERY SINGLE (Objective) person chiming in here will back me up. who had a better vantage point between the ref and i? ME! i ref a lot of games and sometimes the ref gets too close to the play to make the best call. i PROMISE YOu the NFl sent a letter of apology to the Broncos Monday for this call.

the fact you thought he was down by contact shows just how myopic you are and that contrary to what you say - you were clueless on this call.

down by contact? yeah, right - right! funny one there ftbl333. i also suppose you think the sun rises in the west and sets in the east! if you believe kennison was down by contact then you surely will!

down by contact? gimme a break!

I lost on the Chiefs. Blame it on the refs if you want to, but the Chiefs had every chance they needed to win that game. They got 3 gift turnovers from Denver, or they could have lost 42-14. Coaches lost the game when they didn't go for it on 4th & 2 at midfield in 4th quarter, relying on KC's pathetic defense to stop a running game they hadn't stopped all night.

Chiefs screwed us, not the refs.

If Kennison was down by contact then Oprah Winfrey is skinny and George W is smart.....

I wouldn't consider that good capping. Sorry but half your reasons are nothing more than, "If denver does poor/well then they'll do poor/well".

Four of your five reasons are just "what ifs".

And one of them was silly (If denver's dbacks get burned? C H A M P is a champ, man).

#1 reason was good one however. Plummer is inconsistent and shaky, and almost won you the money by himself.

But traditionally, you should have a really, really strong reason to bet a road favorite in this rivalry, and I didn't see it going into this week. Denver has weapons and a much improved defense, and they dismantled KC last year 45-27 at Invesco.

Back to the #1 reason, now that Jake and crew are on the road, it's a good reason to bet Jags this week. Jake looked like an idiot and I don't think Jags D will help improve that image.
