Ah interesting, in other casinos I've played at, the A5 wouldn't have qualified.

Why not? Quads with a five kicker. All four cards play. Just curious

Because for quads or a full house to qualify for a bad beat jackpot in Atlantic City or Vegas the rules are:

Bad Beat Jackpot is paid when a hand of Full House, Aces full of Jacks or better, loses to a bigger hand at showdown. Both of the hole cards of the winning hand and losing hand must be in play. 50% of the jackpot is paid to the loser of the hand, 25% paid to the winner of the hand, and 25% is divided between all other players dealt into that hand.

Seems to fit the criteria. What am I missing?

Atlantic City and Vegas rules:

<table id="post6044700" class="tborder" align="center" border="0" cellpadding="6" cellspacing="0" width="100%"><tbody><tr valign="top"><td class="alt1" id="td_post_6044700" style="border-right: 1px solid rgb(253, 222, 130);">1. The Bad Beat Progressive Jackpot shall apply to the game of
Texas Hold’em Only. “Bad Beat” means a High Ranking Poker hand that is beat by a higher ranking hand (i.e.; Aces Full of Jacks losing to 4 of a kind).

2. The winning and losing players must use both of their hole cards to create the highest possible hand. For four of a kind, both the winning and losing player’s hand must contain a pocket pair. The minimum losing Bad Beat Hand will be Aces Full of Jacks and the losing player must have a pair of Aces in their hand. A hand higher than Aces Full of Jacks that gets beat is still eligible for the jackpot (ex: 4 Kings get beat by 4 Aces).

3. A $1.00 maximum amount will be removed from each pot that totals $20.00 or more including the rake. In order for a hand to be eligible for the Bad Beat Payout, the pot must meet the $20.00 minimum. The hand must go to a showdown (played to the end, where all cards have been dealt and players have completed betting and show their cards to determine the winner) in order for a jackpot to be awarded.
i. On a daily basis, for each $1.00 collected, 80% will be added to the Bad Beat Progressive Jackpot and 20% will be held in reserve to replenish the Jackpot when hit. (Seeding of the Jackpot will be recouped at a rate of 10% of daily drop.)

4. Players must play their hands independently. If any player, directly or indirectly involved in the hand, passes information or instructs another on how to act or reveals their hand to other players, the Jackpot may be disqualified.

5. In order to collect any Bad Beat Progressive Jackpot payouts, proper ID will be required. Payouts of the Bad Beat Progressive Jackpot are as follows:
i. 50% of the jackpot will be awarded to the Bad Beat hand (losing player);
ii. 25% of the jackpot will be awarded to the winner of the hand;
iii. 25% of the jackpot will be divided equally and awarded to the remaining seated players on the game where the jackpot hit who meet the eligibility requirements below.

6. A player who removes his or her chips from the game prior to a showdown on a hand where a jackpot is won forfeits his or her right to any prize money.
i. If a player walks away from the game after acting on their hand and leaves their chips on the table, that player will still be eligible for their share of the remaining 25% of the jackpot if a jackpot occurs on that hand only.

7. Winner will be solely responsible for all taxes.

8. Prize won is final. No substitution or transfer of prize permitted.

9. In the rare occurrence of a Bad Beat Jackpot being hit on more than one game at the same time, the total jackpot will be divided by the number of Bad Beat winning games. Then the jackpot will be distributed on each game according to the percentages set forth in rule 5 above.

10. Under all circumstances the decision of the Poker Supervisor is final.

I copied that from my post in the poker forum, but those are the rules and the correct ones if I may say.

Dude you could have said rule #2 both hands must be pocket pairs in a four of a kind situation.

Hrm I guess this is a tough one because the 5 kicker does play in a normal situation... Never seen a hand like this where it's been an issue before, because they will allow it if you have AK to make AAAKK and you lose, so it seems like the same rule applies versus requiring pocket pairs...

Lol who knows, every casino is different.
