Friend of mine had this done a couple of years ago, he is doing great, no problems at all. He was 50. You will be glad you had the surgery. Best of luck.

yes, ive had it....its becoming more common for younger people today....basically around the ball of hip...you are losing bone and not getting any blood to bottom of your foot...you will def need surgery...surgery is not bad...at your age , you will be home in 1-2 days...possibly no staples , now they use a dermabond(glue) to seal the incision... no physical therapy...you will walk fine, but may have trouble bending over to tie shoes for a couple of weeks. if your moving around now with the hip...it will feel so much better after the surgery.

funny you say your foot groundhog my right foot swells up sometimes for no reason the pain is crazy can't even look at it w/o hurting went to foot dr they tested for gout and ra and other stuff all bloodwork came back normal dr said maybe it was that my ligaments and tendons would get strained from being a plumber and being in ditches or tight spots and having my foot bent the wrong way never made sense to me but yes my right femoral head a piece of it is collapsed the left is still round enough the 2nd opinion ortho said that core decompression will work on that instead of a total replacement

Do you have to take a lot of meds for it? How advanced are the meds these days? Seems like Magic Johnson is gonna live to 100 the way he's going.

I snapped a femur head ball in half in a skiing accident. surgeon used a rod and a pin to put it back together. 2 years later I had the metal taken out even though they said I didn't need to. AVN has always been a concern , but it never set in. I went a full year with no pain... but then I gained some weight and had some excruciating pain in the injury area. I was sure it was AVN and my time to pay the piper. X ray looks good. Bottom line, my self diagnosis is being overweight creates problems. I am 6'7, 290 these days... so all I gotta do is drop some weight. AVN scares the shit outta me though. Hang in there man. and if you are overweight.. lose the poundage.

i just take 4 pills a day forever. I'm assuming they are pretty advanced but I'm new to the HIV scene so i could be wrong lol but no they have come a long way to make HIV/Aids a manageable disease from what I've read and what the dr told me. the problem with hiv is if you don't get tested you won't know you have it like i never felt sick at all my cd4 count which i think is white blood cell was 187(AIDS)when i found out and viral load (how many strands of virus you have) was 80000. After being on the meds for ab 2 months now my cd4 is 350(no more AIDS) haha and viral load is down to 700 so the pills do work rather well. and people don't die from hiv like in the 80's people die from being more prone to getting infections because of a low cd4 count and really not knowing they have it the dr said a normal persons cd4 is 1000 if you're sick you lose 50 or so per year so basically I've had it for what 10 years? and i never knew
