Um, you'd think being quasi-Jewish you'd know better, but Nazi persecution was not based on a religion, it was based on a race.
Nazi antisemitism provides another example of the contentious divide between ethnic and religious persecution, because Nazi propaganda tended to construct its image of Jews as race, and de-emphasized Jews as being defined by their religion. The Holocaust made no distinction between secular Jews, atheistic Jews, orthodox Jews and Jews that had converted to Christianity.

And, let's be perfectly clear. Religions should most definitely be "persecuted," when they prove to be a scourge on the earth, when the religion beats women, gays and others, and provides safe breeding ground for terrorists.

Holocaust: Night Will Fall is a powerful new documentary about the liberation of the Nazi concentration camps and how combat and newsreel cameramen filmed the almost unbelievable scenes encountered there.
When Allied forces liberated the Nazi concentration camps in 1944-45, their terrible discoveries revealed for the first time the full horror of what had happened.
Making use of British, Soviet and American footage, the Ministry of Information’s Sidney Bernstein (later founder of Granada Television) aimed to create a documentary that would provide lasting, undeniable evidence of the Nazis’
unspeakable crimes. He commissioned a wealth of British talent, including his friend Alfred Hitchcock.
Alfred Hitchcock at ClaridgesThere were even secret talks with Hollywood director Billy Wilder (Some Like it Hot), himself an Austrian refugee from the Nazis. Yet, despite initial support from the British and US Governments, the film was shelved. It was considered too sensitive for the rapidly changing political climate.
Now, 70 years on, Bernstein’s film has been restored and completed by Imperial War Museums. This eloquent, lucid documentary by André Singer (executive producer of the award-winning The Act of Killing) tells the extraordinary story of filming the camps and the fate of Bernstein’s project, using original archive footage and eyewitness testimonies.
Over 15 countries will be joining Channel 4 in broadcasting Night Will Fall in the run up to and on Holocaust Memorial Day, 27 January 2015.
