The Atlanta Braves are 9-1 and have three consecutive series sweeps to their credit a winning streak not seen since April of 2000. The Braves have had contributions on both sides with a Pitching Staff with a 1.82 ERA and an offense who has a Runs Scored 62 to Runs Against 23 + 39 ratio. Medlen is 1-1 1.50 ERA and in his only start vs. Kansas City he allowed four runs in six Innings Pitched. Kansas City has won seven of nine and comes into night's game with a 3-3 road record. Guthrie is 2-0 3.55 ERA this season but 7-0 2.37 ERA last 13 in which the Royals won 12. Alex Gordon is .373 and has an eleven game hitting streak while Billy "Country Breakfast" Butler is .257 with two HR's 11 RBI's and 10 BB's. This interleague matchup should see some quality pitching but Atlanta's hitting has been getting the big knocks in the past few weeks. Guthrie will have to keep Justin Upton and Evan Gattis guessing if Kansas City hopes to keep Atlanta from getting in a scoring groove. The script for tonight for Medlen will be the same as any Atlanta game. The Atlanta starter has to keep Kansas City to limited or no runs giving the offense the time and opportunities to manufacture a few runs before the late innings when Kimbrel comes in to close it out. If these thing fall into place Atlanta's Big Country Breakfast should be scattered smothered and covered. Source: ESPN MLB Preview.
