Assuming Bush wins, what will happen to our country?

First of all, assuming Mr. Bush wins, which it appears he will, I would like to congratute him, his supporters, and his bettors on a very nice win.

With that said, the President, House, and Senate are all Republican. We will have new, ultra-conservative Supreme Court justices appointed during the next four years. We are facing a very important time in our history - wars abroad, imminent terrorism domestically, and economic disaster at home.

What is going to happen to our great country? Can it withstand another 4 years? I am gravely concerned about where this country is headed. It is a VERY disappointing day in the history of the United States of America.

That's a bit self-righteous to say: My half of the country is smart, and your half +3.5 million is stupid." C'mon, you only got a few more posts left on here, make em more useful than that.

I am hopeful that this entire process can somehow be returned to the voter. It is encouraging to me that there seems to be very little fraud-related coming out and the actual voting process seems to have worked a little better than last time.

I think for those that walk around and complain about the negative campaigning and mudslinging, that they should try to put in some time to see what candidates are actually representing and try to affect change in the process. The sad part of this whole thing is that I don't really see yesterday as a real mandate insomuch as it was a lot of people voting on a couple of catch phrases and out of fear. It's great that so many people got out and voted, now if we can just move towards more people becoming more aware of why they are voting, we might have something. It takes literally 10 minutes on the Internet to familiarize yourself with what a candidate or party believes in. And one-issue voters - I think - should get past that way of thinking, because our lives are not one-issue lives...we have to live dealing with everything.

For those that understand why they voted the way they did because of knowing the issues and how they affect them, kudos. For those that just went to the polls and voted based on headlines, what they heard at a bar, and a few tv commercials, you are not doing your personal job, I don't think.

As a person who lives in a state that elected Jesse Ventura to represent them, I know too well that in a matter of months, people who voted for someone can be seen scratching there heads and saying, why did I do that? I think this scenario is entirely possible in the coming months. You are exactly correct in how important this election was. It was the most important election that most of us might ever participate in. I hope that in a couple of years, people are still proud of how they voted, no matter who they voted for. I know I will be.

Makes a lot of sense, that's why Kerry's best base of voters were those with high School educations or less(they must be the truly enlightened).

Good point JW, Bush did get the majority of older voters and those with a college education or bettor.

Tekari, what are you basing your comment about college educated voters on? Is there some data available on that from the vote yesterday? I'll hold my comment until I know what I'm dealing with here. Thanks.

any moron that thinks that different presidents drastically changes the lives of every citizen is a moron. Personally, my life wouldnt be different if bush or kerry won. Take it easy. Unless you worked for kerry yesterday, i am guessing you didnt lose your job this morning because of the election.
