Stiff's name is Gopher0316 and he's a poster here but hasn't posted since December when he lost his load.

Thats usually when they stop posting.

Good job guys! Yeah, I'm sure they just changed user names and popped right back up as somebody else. Again, hats off to you two for not covering up for them.

I have 3 locals I use and I gave all 3 1k each up front on my own and put myself on a 1k weekly limit. This way I can't get in trouble. Been working well as only once in the last 7 years did I come up short and had to use my collateral. But within a week I gave the cash back to cover the initial 1k.

Sadly it seems both credit and post up are drying up.

For the first time in my life I can not get down the amount I want to get down and I've never missed a payment.

Oh well, I am basically giving up. Maybe things will change in time but it's a mess out there right now.

I am literally brand new to sports betting

I made my very first deposit like 2 weeks ago at a "1st class sportsbook"

Within 2 days I was reading all over the internet how this book was now in serious trouble, about to stiff their players, management was all in mafia and about to get thrown down with indictment, and on and on and on...

...it turned out not to matter for me because I lost that initial deposit

But after reading that craziness I decided to get hooked up with a legitimate local bookmaker through my best friend and have been set up with an account.

My friend warned me about these offshore post up sportsbooks. He offered to hook me up with his bookie when I started and after that first deposit and readig all that stuff I decided to take him up on it.

This guy has been a bookie for 15 years and it is what he does for a living.

Set me up to start. I get $800/week credit. Winnings unlimited but losses limited to $800. Settle up on mondays.

His players, which I am now one of, meet him at a local starbucks between 1-4 pm each monday to pay/collect:):)

Monday will be my first settle up day so I'll let you guys know how it goes...but Surf Eagle already likes this arrangement much better.

There is a poster on this site I put in touch with a mutual acquaintance.

He posted up and lost. He was then given some credit and promptly lost 2K. His outstanding balance after about two months, is still 2K.

That's because you're an idiot.

Gambling on credit, is funny.

Atleast you don't have to assume the debt. That happened with the guy who hooked Erick Lindgren up with his bookie like 8 years ago.

Anyone see that article in bluff magazine? Good stuff.

Lindgren is a true pos.

Green bars are helpful for credibility purposes IMO... Not the deciding factor but would be considered
Well, that leaves me out.....I bust a MODs balls and get them taken away.

If we went by height instead, I would be in good shape around here.

After meeting the local I was set up with yesterday morning to give him the $175 i owed...

...I decided to forgo wagering with him and instead opened up an account at YOUWAGER

Several friends have recommeneded youwager to me and vouch for it being one of the elite offshore sportsbooks

The local seemed legit, but Im just more comfortable and smart enough to realize that it is much wiser to bet with funds I have as opposed to credit

From what Ive been able to gather my first few weeks being a sports bettor, 5dimes, Youwager, and Heritage are legit, safe, good-as-they come books.

After some thought I realized that, at least for me, this is the better way to go

To each his own

i feel the same way. I didn't play the championship games 2 weeks ago and doubt I play the Super Bowl. Just not into it anymore when you have to work that hard for an out with decent numbers. Don't have 5D credit anymore so props are basically meaningless to me.

With Pinnacle shrinking and Matchbook gone, I'll be betting on real estate. I am not good enough to win vs -110.

I know this is old as hell but "Surf Eagle"... you can tell your local you don't want credit and rather just do post up.

I'm pretty sure he would agree to do it. Just a thought.

Man, I've just learned to gloss over all those posts... On any forum, anywhere. Right? I mean it's always someone with >100 posts looking for a bookie because they're either broke and can't post up, or they're in a hole to their actual local and looking for somewhere to take a shot and win some of it back with the obvious intention of stiffing if it goes the other way (and it will, it always does).

When I first became commissioner of my fantasy league, I made the mistake of taking on a of "team" like this and set the number really low (like 300 points) this guy actually got 320 points his 1st week in the league, but the next week when he went backwards 1k points he was nowhere to be found. Lesson learned. At least it only cost about 1300 points. The people who deserve a local don't publicly ask for one... the people who ask for one on a public forum, cannot handle credit.

The same story gets repeated over and over again on every forum. One of the very few downsides to great sites like this one.

And this guy stiffed. Just can't make this stuff up.

i though still have faith that there are people out there that are legit. Some people like myself have moved to a new city and don't know the local layout hence the need for asking for somebody online. I do have an online book but it sucks :/ having a local you can deal with on a legit weekly basis has its advantage. what are you gonna do?

i figure its an assumed risk on both sides. If you both go in (book and player) knowing this, then their should be no problem. Also do a little research and question asking on both ends. But if you can have an offshore book that is an another country, why not have a local that isnt in your city? so long as both player and book are on the up and up
