But 5, What´s the strangest request ever made by a poster? And please tell us who the weirdo is. <!-- / message -->
I don't know about strange but I get a lot of requests by total strangers who I only know by some posting handle or email addy to be given a line of credit at various credit shops. That will never happen. I get a lot of guys asking for jobs, nothing wrong with that btw.
Occasionally a flat out plea for a loan from a total stranger with a sob story attached. I hope they are all stories and not really true (because some are sad) as I am far from wealthy and don't just send money to complete strangers even if they have a according to them real need for cash.
I guess the strangest was a poster asking me to contact his local somewhere in the states and tell him that I owe the guy a ton of money but cant pay until the following month and that is why he can't pay his figure this week. This happened once but I can't disclose who was involved.
I have had my life threatened about 10 times over the years. Cancer wished on me and other family members a few times - lot of stuff like that from pisssed off posters who for one reason or another blame me for something they did.
I swear I can't read PMs or Passwords, maybe the Rx Tech Support administrator who owns his own business that we are a client of might be able to but the mods do not have high enough secruity clearences (including me) within VBulletin to go there. I can change a password but that won't tell me what the old one was. I do that often for posters at their request.
I have no way of knowing posters names or addresses. I can check IPs but that only tells you a specific geographic area such as Toledo, Ohio for example, not a street or even area within Toledo.
My job requires a lot of patience and quite a few hours a week online. There are always decisions to make and as I have said many times it is absolutely impossible to please everyone on an issue at the same time.
I am happy to say all of us mods get along very well and I think the entire team knows I am here for them if needed. I believe the same is true in reverse, all the mods have my back when necessary.
Believe it or not we try to be as fair as possible in all areas of moderating a large busy forum like The Rx.com..
Some of the scams that get thrown at us are mind boggling but we keep as much of that stuff off the site as possible.
Being head mod for TheRx is not a job just anyone can do, you really have to have some patience and fairness built in to be successful, plus you cannot have a big ego or you will not last. I will be head mod 4 years in June and believe me I am much better at it now than I was in June of 2005. You really do learn on the job in a situation like this.
Thanks, wil.
