I see too many parallels between 1972 and now. Nixon/Agnew resoundingly defeat a flaming anti-war, left of Kerry, liberal George McGovern. The war drags on and the body count mounts. Conservative hawks rejoice. Turn the page. Agnew is soon forced out of office for accepting bribes and kickbacks while "I am not a crook" Nixon quits before certain impeachment. The stakes are monumentally higher now of course.
Do not be deceived by the GOP majorities. After gross imcompetence by the Shrub threatens the very fabric of our society and the world for that matter, a GOP legislative majority which is hardly all in Shrubs corner even now may yet act. But it really won't matter.
It is rather thrilling to be living in the end times and watching Bibical prophecy unfold with uncanny precision. The false prophets, false preachers, false teachers and the counterfeit revival of the evangelical right is doing exactly as foretold. If there is a Rapture how mant poor souls will be shocked to find themselves having been duped by satanic deception. Wow I mean if Dubya can fool 75% of them what does that say about their mental ability in the area of discernment. Basically they are a major army of lemmings. What if they gave a Rapture and very few came? The irony of it all and yet it was foretold exactly.

Thank you bblight for the underhanded compliment. I recall being tested long ago and in fact yes I did have a superior IQ. But I lived in Chicago and was a Cub fan. That led me to drink, drugs, ladies of the night and gambling and all sorts of brain rotting mischief. Now I am a miscreant. Even 35 years ago I was lost in a purple haze.
