Largest wager for me was Bowe-Golota II. Layed -205 on what I thought would be easy money. Well, Bowe was getting his clocked clean. HBO's Larry Merchant said during the fight they should think about stopping it.

In the 9th round Bowe goes down in a heap from a barrage of below the belt blows. Golota gets DQ'd and I get a lucky win.

I've seen two threads about this type of bet this year, both went down in flames.

My largest bet was over 20 years ago, when I bet 3k I couldn't afford to lose on a Vikings vs Redskins game. It was something like Vikes plus 3 and they were winning outright the whole game. They were winning by 10 with 5 minutes left and we were counting the money.

Needless to say, the Skins scored two late TD's and I couldn't sleep for days.

Even though I have a lot more money today, I never made that type of bet again. My average bet is about $ 300, and I might extend to 800 or 1,000 if I'm on a good roll, never ever when I'm down.

Kinda weird that my biggest bet came when I was on a losing streak and chasing money I couldn't lose. I think that happens to a lot of people.

Anyhow, has anybody won their biggest bet?

moral of the story? don't chase and don't make your biggest bet because you're due. Also don't make your biggest bet on bad football teams or fading good football teams, that's just a bad strategy.

OK, I'll step off my soapbox now.

If I had to worry about the part in bold I would not be betting that much .... thats me anyway , if it effects you to personal its TO Much

I did say it was over 20 years ago and I don't bet like that anymore.

However, I'm certain that there are many that bet that way.

I did win last night MNF Chargers 1st H as my biggest wager of the season so far.....BARELY thanks to Sproles.

But you know when I get tempted the most to go in on a SUPER BIG wager is BOWL season. Because the lines are out forever and unlike WK 1 NFL you actually have seen the teams play in season with their starters and know who is and is not going to play. I try to scale back but it's a challenge.

Biggest bet $500 (I Know small time) back in 86 when young and working 2 blue collar jobs. Had a great Feb/ March winning 4-5 K betting 50-200 per game and just killing college hoops. Lost a bit back in NCAA tourney and decided to bet my max with my local on Lville -8 over cinderella LSU in NCAA semis. My hoop playing buds were not bettors and couldn't believe what I was doing and we settled in to watch the first game which was Lvlle/LSU. At half LSU led by 8 and Cards were doin nothing. Friend drove me home and back then there was little radio play so I was hoping I'd get home and it would be tied with 5-6 minutes to go. Got home and Lville had 12 pt lead with 10 min.....needless to say I needed Milt Wagner to knock down 10 FTs(five one and ones) in final 2 minutes to get the cover by 2-4 points. Almost had a heart attack at 26---decide never again. However i have bet that amount a few times since but only when up

Luckily, yes.

My largest to risk bet was a UFC match on a -250 fave. In way over my head but pulled it out.

My largest to win bet was USC vs. PSU Rose Bowl. Cruised the 1H, and was dancing at halftime, 1H later, a long snapper snaps it thirty yards over the punter's head and PSU has a shot for a backdoor at the 15. I was going to be sick. Luckily, the ball dropped and the clock sounded. Whew.

Biggest bet was a parlay that would've won me something in the range of 2800... Unfortunatly I had baltimore in the last leg for the infamous sox/orioles mother's day game a few years back.

I think this was last season. 2500.00 on the Colts -3.5 I believe against Houston in Houston. Colts were down by like 20 or something in the 4th and made an amazing friggin comeback led by Peyton Manning of course. They even covered the -3.5! I had stopped watching in disgust and missed it all. Never going to forget that day.

Years ago I added an extra 0 on a 150 bet on the Cubs. They were like 2-1 favs. I was up drinking and 4 wheeling all night and put my bets in at like 5:30 in the morning. I was in high school and had built my account up to over 4K through 1-200 bets. I checked my account around 4 pm that day and was missing 3 grand. Found out I had bet it on the cubs on accident. I turn it to the game and they are down 3-1 to the Nationals with 2 outs in the 9th. They get a single and Aramis Ramirez hits a 2 run bomb to tie it! I have never been so excited in my life. In the bottom of the 10th they get bases loaded 2 outs with Henry Blanco up. He hits a ball in the hole between short and 3rd, SS has it tip off his glove and the third baseman barehands it out of mid air and throws Blanco out by a millimeter. There is only one person slow enough in the league that would have been called out and it was Blanco. Top 11 Schneider hits a solo home run and the Nationals win the game.

The biggest bet I've ever made PURPOSELY was a grand on Connecticut from our one and only Ace Ace. Easy Easy winner.

I had the Texans. I still can't believe how stupid and how bad their QB was in the last 5 minutes. The multiple turnovers were bad enough, but if I recall correctly, he ran for a game ending 1st down, but instead of going down and ending it, he tries to leap over the defender and fumbles the ball. Colts recover.

What a dipshit.
