As a man, are you more or less at ease with female doctors ?

I find it ironic and so unrealistic when people deny the obvious that discrimination is a fact of life and not like we evil thing. It's rare when looks don't mean a thing, maybe getting accepted into some top University like a Yale or Harvard isn't going to happen without the pure excellence and superior intellilect required for them consider you

Everything else in life is based on discrimination. I choose which cantalope to buy at market, who I rent my apartment to, which girl I hire to be my barmaid if I own a bar

Simple things like a law stating I must rent to the party with the better credit rating are wrong, allow me some discretion
So much depends on who you know and how you look I stead of just numbers
Selling yourself and believing are so much more important. Quite a few guys with far from proper credentials, like being a med school dropout manage to get doctor positions, even like high level administrative positions

I always try to see what I can learn about a possible physician I might be referred to, I can usually find some educational stuff and licensing stuff and at least a photograph, that is what most people want, just the picture, like okay he looks like a good doctor, yeah right we know we you want the pic
Everything in life comes down to discrimination of some sort, I choose to live in San Diego instead of say, Miami.
Sexual stuff is all about choices

I might have some really weird link like I want a fat short redhead over age 50 instead of hot Blondie like a Barbara Eden in 1965. Live and let live works for me, but don't try to be so PC that you can't see what is reality

I go to a female dermatalogist 2x a year and she checks my junk area. I always feel weird that a woman is doing and not a man it but she is a good doctor.

About 10 years ago, i had surgery where my stomach was cut open. The next day at the hospital, 1 of the surgeon's assistants was checking up on me who was female. She's a cute girl and i've hung with her socially a few times as we have mutual friends. Never fun having a cute female check out your junk the day after surgery as the "shrinkage factor" was in FULL effect haha

Reno you having a bout with the big C? Everything okay?

I'm doing all right. I had micro robotic surgery, a 20 hour procedure that was brutal. Did 35 rads. I'm doing ok but what I have is super rare so I have scan every 4 months now. But it's looking good.

Ok here's the deal. I'm just not comfortable with a lady dr handling my junk. Especially with all this #metoo shit

They will bring a chaperone into the room before they examine a man who is undressed below the waist.

I feel exactly the same way and could never be as honest with a male doc
The only person you are (potentially) hurting by not being as honest as possible with your doc is YOU.

I tell my patient all the time, lie to your husband or wife, preacher, boss whoever...but don't lie to me, it could get you dead...

Yes, it should be such an intimate relationship that doesn't even come close to what your wife knows about you, everything but financial stuff, that is exclusive to the IRS , and not something your doctor needs to know, but pretty much everything else must be revealed other wise even having a PCP is pointless especially more important as you age and start becoming a senior citizen
You also really need the right fit personality wise with said physician

Doc, what is your opinion on APRN's essentially acting as MD's ?

Men and women have their different talents though. My surgeon is a male and he's one of the best in the country. Can't even see the scars on my face and I had the entire right side of my face cut off and sewed back on. He would be at the hospital all hours, I dont' know when he slept but he always looked fresh and sharp, like beyond like he got 10 hours of sleep a night. My oncologist is a female, she is the absolute best and the easiest to talk to, she's sharp too, never forgets things. The male doctors will forget small details but not her. Plus she's more empathetic, and asks me the questions, the ones I usually forget to think of, knows about my kids whats going on in my life and all that stuff.
