Howard Stern
's sidekick is finally in rehab. Artie Lange, who's long overindulged with drugs and drink, was scheduled to attend close pal Bob Saget's Comedy Central roast on Sunday night, but never made it to LA. Instead, he checked himself into an intensive outpatient rehab program. A source said Lange "felt awful for not being there for Bob, but needed to make his health a priority." Lange also canceled his stand-up shows this weekend, but plans to return to his regular gig on Stern's Sirius radio show when it returns from hiatus. Lange's rep, Lewis Kay, confirmed the news.

Like Artie a lot. He's been out of control for some time now. He looks absolutely terrible. Wish nothing but the best for Artie.

any word on this guy?

For some reason, I was thinking he was going to be back when Stern came back from the two week vacation after July 4th.

Knowing how loyal Stern is to his people, I would think that he is holding out hope that Artie will return. He hasn't brought anyone in to take his place as part of the show, other than Kimmel, Carrolla and Fitzsimmons and they only stayed around for one day.

According to someone close to the show and Artie(Sam Simon), he will likely never be back on show. Still a depressed mess. Has his mom staying with him and he occasionally goes to NA and AA meetings. Howard will take him back on the show when Artie tells him he is ready and in good mental health.

I still say Hoo-Hoo fired the Joke Man over money.
Best show out there is Virus 202, but I'm biased, I used to work with the boys.

Never heard it. Will check it out. Please tell me it isn't the 2 homos, opie and andy.

I doubt Howard canned him. Jackie has said he wanted a ton of money and station said "no". Howard didn't step in, so he left. Now he's doing shows for 10 people in Long Island.

O and A and Jimmy Norton.
But you being a Hoo-Hoo fan, I can understand, O and A fans and Hoo-Hoo fans are like Red Sox fans and Yankee fans,

I am pretty sure it is those 2 fags. I haven't heard anything new from them, is Opie's girlfriend still sucking random dick?

I don't think thats true. I listened to both while O and A were in Boston.
Howard is sooooo much better.

Lindsay?
I know her, she never was like that at all, Greg and Lindsay are married, and just had a kid.
Anthony Cumia was dating Jill Nicoloni but that's history.

Howard hasn't done anything new for years, except maybe cry to Mel when O and A went to mornings, after he begged for some comptetion, any competition.
I guess he wanted competition that really couldn't compete with him.

opie and andy are not in same league as howard's show, without him, they wouldn't have a career. since you used to work with them it's likely tough for you to be biased, but they are corny as hell to me. either way, all of them are getting paid and each person has their own likes and dislikes. nobody going for the same target audience is able to compete with his show format. too much of a loyal following to make much headway. doing a tea party kind of show is the better choice to get radio ratings in this era of broadcasting.

Two totally different show.
Both have a huge fan base, both shows are top rated in arbitron ratings.
Howard does need to know though without Bob and Ray in my dads day, there would be no Steve Allen and Gene Klayborn in the 60's and without those two there is no Don Imus in the 70's and without that there is no Howard and O & A from the 80's moving foward.
Also Howard needs to know, that yes, he is a pioneer in ways, every bit he does is not his own, as a matter of fact, most bits are not his own, but all successful OAP's are not all entirely original.
No doubt Howards best radio was when Martling was whispering gags into his headset.
Martling was one of the best at that, better than Charles McCord setting up Don Imus (or Bernard McKirk) and better than Bob Elliot setting up Ray Goulding in my dad's day, hell I am not biased enough to say Martling setting up Stern is better radio than Greg Hughes setting up Anthony Cumia.
But I'd rather listen to Jim Norton and Greg Hughes set up Cumia than Artie setting up Howard.

Like I said, two different shows, both great radio, but it's a matter of what you like, I like Cumia and his spot on thousand voices.

One last item, deny it all you want, the only radio show Howard feared, is the O and A show.

Fast foward this clip to the 5 minute mark, Howard had steam coning out of his ears for a month after this was aired.
The boys give Howard props, but tell me what part is not true?

Artie may come out alright...

Artie Lange & Nick DiPaolo BALLIN' with $3 MILLION Deal!!
~TMZ

Artie Lange's return to radio is paying off for him and partner Nick DiPaolo ... BIG time -- because TMZ has learned the comedy duo will rake in a total of about 3 MILLION bucks!

We're told Artie and Nick just inked 3-year deals for a nationally syndicated radio show premiering Monday, October 3. Sources involved in the deal say each of them will make more than 500K per year of the deal -- and it's going to be called "The Nick and Artie Show."

As TMZ first reported ... DirecTV put together the deal to get Nick and the former "Howard Stern Show" star. We're told there are already plans to simulcast Nick and Artie on The Audience Network next Spring.

The show will focus on sports and entertainment -- and we're told Artie's already describing it like this: "Imagine two hosts from SportsCenter ... if they were under indictment."

As they say ... check your local listings.
