I use to play hoop with Art at the Old Sporting House in Vegas. No, he never fixed a game. Didnt become a problem until after school. He really didnt play much in the nfl to fix a game.

Feds should look more at lying CEO's than athletes. LEts get the big guys instead of the little guys.

I said if he did fix games, you had to be on the right side...he had a major jones with his gambling problem and I'm sure it went way back before he entered college...

There were never any allegations that Art Schlichter ever fixed a game.

He got into trouble because he stiffed bookies in Baltimore. As I recall, he was dealing with a bookie through two acquaintances. After he had already paid the main guy a ton of money, he lost more and couldn't cover it. The bookie told the acquaintances to forget it, but they blackmailed Schlichter and ratted him out when he didn't pay them. Real scumbags.

And btw, he was the Colts starting QB for a period of time and certainly saw enough NFL action to fix games if he wanted to.

Rumor has it UNLV's Anderson Hunt fixed games and was blackballed by the NBA which is why he never played in the pros.

Hard to believe that's true. Not that he fixed games, but that he was blackballed.

John Williams was known to have fixed games at Tulane and I think he was a first round draft pick.

He didn't fix the 1990 Final Four. He was voted the Most Outstanding Player.
Mind you the operative word being 'rumor'.
I 'kind of' believe it for 2 reasons.
I was told by a couple of people he threw away key passes during the 1990 regular season, and aren't there incriminating photos of Hunt with known gamblers?

What is generally acknowledged is that Ronnie Harmon threw the 1986 Rose Bowl, and more than likely continued that type of activity in the NFL with the Bills and San Diego.

The agent he signed with before he left Iowa was a mobster (allegedly, wink wink nod nod).

Does it really matter??..thats the past..I think with all the knowledge we now have about the warning signs of these problems, the chances are less likely..but desperate people do desperate things..

I believe the UNLV team lost that game to Duke on purpose. That team was too good. Fuck Ronnie, I know he lost that Rose Bowl on purpose, Hayden says he didn't but its obv he did.

4. UNLV, 1991; 5; 3; .6517

Photographs emerged of players Anderson Hunt, Moses Scurry and David Butler, all members of the 1990 national championship team, in a hot tub with convicted game-fixer Richie Perry. Though no point-fixing allegations were ever made, like a Sin City bachelor party, the photos were enough to cause problems. Within days, UNLV coach Jerry Tarkanian agreed to resign. Vegas baby, Vegas.

why would the photos make Tark resign?

Photos had absolutely nothing to do with Tark leaving...the president of the college had been on his ass for years as well as the NCAA big wigs..
