Grandy is just a strikeout machine against better pitchers. I like the man and his attitude for the game, but he's a guy that either hits a HR or strikes out too much, he's not that great of an outfielder either....he has speed but often breaks the wrong way and doesn't read the ball well. Suzuki or Gardner are the best outfielders and you should put your best one in CF.
I don't love a guy that hits the 40+ HR with a low average and high K rate....these guys tend to fail against elite pitching. I don't think he's hurt.
A-Rod could be hurt. If so, eliminate him from the roster next round ( if you even get there). pinch hitting for him and benching him are an embarassment to the team and the man.
Girardi has grown a set as a manager since his father died this week.
You can hide A-rod for now, but where do you hide his awful contract for the next 5 years ? They already lucked out with Jeter this season.
That is one expensive infield they have there !
Has there ever been a bigger benching than this one ? Ibanez pinch hitting for him was huge too , any comparables to that !
Pinch hitting for Arod, benching Arod, seemed impossible a few short years ago.
Williams and Ruth were the greatest of all time & I'm sure they never were embarrassed like that. The drop between #2 & #3 is very steep but #3 & #20 of the greatest is probably interchangable and Arod based on his stats is in that group.
Embarrassed:
Tiny Martinez was benched for Cecil Fielder a late season pickup around 2000 in the series
Clete Boyer Yankee 3B in the 60's was pinch hit for before he got his first at bat in a series game.
Bob Feller the Cleveland Indians all-time best pitcher played with the 48' & 54' American League Champions.
In 48' he led the league in SO's & won 19 games but didn't win in the Series. In 1954 really the twilight of his
H of F career he was 13-3 & all Cleveland was hoping he'd get his WS victory. The Giants beat Cleveland 4 straight
and Lopez went with Lemon & Wynn two of Fellers fellow H of Famers & Mike Garcia. Feller was not given a chance
to pitch in the entire series.
