very much agree clip, however, abreu has been solid since arriving in ny. not to say that cabrera didnt have a great year for the yanks because he did... ultimately though, u have to take abreu if healthy because of his high obp and hes been around (although not in the playoffs) alot longer than melky... no matter what i hope whoever is in there can get the job done tonight because the winner of this game is the winner of the series in my opinion...

I hear ya...I wasn't really debating the topic in this thread. I just get tired of guys saying "he has done great against so and so throughout his career". Big deal, he could go 0-for-3 and his lifetime average would be cut in half in most cases.

I'll take a guy with a proven career over individual matchups anyday.

I just read that Giambi has been benched

Nice choice of words...replacing Giambi an admitted steroid user.

They should move A-Rod back to SS

Jeter at 2nd, the yanks have not had a good 2bman in about 30 years

Cano at 3rd

It is rediculous to pay someone 25 mil a year to play out his natural position and at 3rd.

A-rod is one of the 3 best players in the game.

well technically they only pay $15 mill of the $25 mill/season...Rangers are still on the hook for the rest. And I dont see why moving him to SS would change anything, but to get scrutinized more w/ every error he makes at replacing the team's captain at shortstop. Also, I dont see how it can make him hit better in crucial situations.

R U kidding Me? Cano is gonna Be The best 2nd basemen in baseball ....The yankees Would happily get rid of arod before cano .Arod is a Very Good player that unfortunately Lacks heart AND does Not PLAY GREAT When the game is on the line. he used to in seattle ...don't know what Happened....do u think the yanks are payin this #8 hitter for frakin stats ? Torre wants Him to come Up big when the game is on the line , But can't ttrust him....Arod batting 8th ??? WHAT A FVCKIN IMBARRASEMENT !!!! read between the lines And I think TOrre is phissed at him right now !:pucking:

Chris O'Meara/AP[h=2]Alex Rodriguez arrives in shape to spring training and with better understanding of his DH role.[/h]</figure>
TAMPA — Fans have voiced their positive opinions of Alex Rodriguez virtually every time he’s stepped on the field for batting practice. Saturday, Joe Girardi gave his stamp of approval for A-Rod’s early-spring work.
“He looks like he did last year, to me,” Girardi said. “He looks like he’s ready to go. He’s healthy, he looks strong.”
Last spring, A-Rod was working in the field as well as in the cage, taking reps at third base and the occasional turn at first base as he worked his way back after 18 months away from the game. The Yankees turned him into a full-time DH by the end of May, leaving the veteran to focus exclusively on hitting.
“I think he’s probably a little bit further along at this point than he was last year, but I think he has a better understanding of what it takes to be a DH and what he needs to do,” Girardi said. “We were trying running him out to the field and there were things we were doing last year, I think he got sore at times, just like any normal infielder would, that he doesn’t have to deal with this year.”
