kermit16;9022714That's sucks but it's the truth. LSU scheduled Oregon and beat them while Arkansas was getting 3 byes playing Troy said:
Well I noticed that you left Texas A&M off of Arkansas' non-conference schedule and failed to mention LSU also played powerhouses Western Kentucky & Northwestern State, what do you call those games? These games are scheduled years in advance so how was Arkansas supposed to know Texas A&M was going to be 6-5 this year, although I have no idea how Sagarin has Texas A&M ranked #9 in the country this week?

You also failed to mention that Bama & LSU had an easy unbalanced SEC schedule. The toughest SEC East team Bama & LSU had to play was Florida who sucks this year while Arkansas had to play and beat South Carolina who is currently #12 in the BCS rankings.

And yes, Arkansas lost to Bama but it was the 1st SEC game of the year. Like the NCAA B-ball tournament committee, don't you place more weight on the games at the end of the season? I think you have an argument for all 3 teams but to me it seems as though if Arkansas wins on Friday they may get punished because they were not ranked as high as Bama or LSU pre-season, like Auburn in 2004, before a game was even played.

The argument about what you were rated preseason has never carried much real weight because it just isn't true. Oklahoma was evderyone's preseason # 1 and they were quickly jumped by Bama and LSU after play started. Okl. State started the season at # 9 and advanced to # 2 in all the polls last week. I really don't think it's fair to give more or less credit to a win or a loss for that matter based simply on how a team's schedule works out. The voters might give it more credit but I really don't think it matters. Arkansas loss to Bama wasn't the first game of the season as it was the 4 th. The 3 rd. computer poll takes into SOS and pays no attention to when a win or loss occurs and that is where LSU comes out on top. The system sucks and if Arkansas beats LSU, what a mess ! GL

I'm not sure that what you say is true because if Arkansas should beat LSU, who will play Georgia has yet to be determined as there would be a 3 way tie for first and would go to the tie breaker. The 3 teams would have played a round robin with each team beating each other. Arkansas shouldn't get any style points for not being able to play Georgia because they didn't win the SEC West division. Your best hope is that Arkansas does win the tie breaker and gets to make some stlye points by beating Georgia. The tie breaker is complicated so have you already got Bama winning a 3 team tie breaker and playing Georgia ? I really don't think Georgia will be able to beat Bama, LSU or Arkansas.

kermit, i have seen your post since 2003 and i have respect for you. Take Alabama and every scenario out. You are a writer, a fan, a coach and a college football lover...And you see on Tv that a number 3 team with 1 loss is playing a number one team with one loss at Number 1's home field...Team that is third ranked goes in by any margin and beats the number one team at home.....You have never in your adult like seen number one stay ahead of number 3 and it would be the stupiest shit i have ever seen. My scenario is "if" we beat Lsu. Alabama goes to 1, we go to 2 and Lsu goes to 3.....Alabama pays in the sec champ because they are ahead of us and beat us and we sit in the 2 spot waiting for them to come back and play us for the title. If lsu wins mute point. If alabama loses to georgia we play lsu again for title...We would be in the catbird seat in the 2 posistion by beating Lsu

strong arguments all of the way around here... If I'm LSU, I have to look at this game as we could lose everything if we lose.... I don't know how this will play out under all of the scenerios presented here, but it seems Bama is in the best position only because they are done playing those other two teams.. I would be surprised if Arkansas beat LSU ,but wouldn't be surprised how any of these teams end up in the rankings...

The fact that Bama most likely doesn't get to play in the SEC Championship helps them ? Really ? Not in the eyes of the voters !

this year it does, one more game they don't have to win

who's going to jump them?

In the SEC East, if Arkansas should beat LSU, nobody is ahead of the other 2 teams. It's a 3 way tie and it will go to the tie-breaker. Let's just say that Bama moves to # 1 in both the Harris and the USA polls like you predict OK and Arkansas moves to # 2 and LSU is downgraded to # 3. That doesn't necessarily mean that Arkansas will also move to # 2 in the all important but stupid BCS standings. That's all I'm saying. Who will actually play Georgia in the SEC Championship game will be decided by a tie breaker since they all took turns beating each other and have exactly the same record in conference and out of conference unless I'm missing something. The tie breaker may go down to which team has the highest BCS ranking... not the AP. USA, Harris or any other poll. The scenaria you mention sounds correct but if you are the same fan, coach, writer like you mention, you are bringing up a scenaria that has probably never happened before ! Why ? You are mentioning the top 3 teams in the country all in the same conference which have also all took turns beating each other. If I'm that coach, fan, writer, you are asking me to forget that Bama slaughtered Arkansas, you are asking me fo forget that LSU beat Bama at Bama and you want me to only remember Arkansas beating LSU. Sorry but a loss is a loss and I will judge the entire season. GL however ! BTW Once again, you say Bama plays in the SEC Championship because they are ahead of us and beat us right ? Well LSU can and will say the same thing about Bama.. They played Bama and beat Bama and it was at Bama. Why is Bama ahead of LSU ? It's a 3 way tie and nobody's knows unless you know something I haven't seen yet ! For the season, LSU SOS beats
both Bama's and Arkansas the last time I looked.

Perhaps Arkansas might !
What's so far fetched about Arkansas verses LSU if Arkansas beats LSU at LSU ?
Perhaps Arkansas wins by the score of 35-34. It might make for a far more entertaining rematch than a 9-6 borefest !:103631605
If either LSU or Arkansas is chosen to play Georgia in the SEC Championship game, that win could easily push them past whoever is in the second spot. That extra game could easily be Bama's undoing.
