In a separate interview with The Wall Street Journal, the educator described witnessing this problem grow even worse during the COVID-19 pandemic, stating that "something shifted" in the kids.

Why are phones allowed in classrooms?

Gotta have a phone to do math, right? Gotta have a phone to correct spelling, right? I mean do these kids know how to do anything without a phone?

I remember the good old days of selling cellphones....back when the business was in its infancy.

There was mininal retail at the time, just a bunch of independent agents pounding the pavements to sell people on paying $40 per month and .35 cents per minute to make calls......

It was the wild wild west.
