It was what I was afraid of with this game. Three games back they were one of the leading candidates to make the Final Four. Now they are playing in the Sun Bowl on a rainy day. They have much more talent than Duke and could still pull away in the second half. But right now they look like they could care less. And Duke wants badly to get the bowl loss monkey off their backs.

Your assessment is correct; and when you're playing a team that has the best player on the field (Crowder) and is as well coached as Duke (Cutcliffe is a great CFB Coach)...you had better be interested and fully engaged.

Crowder is a more explosive player IMHO. Probably a more versatile player also.

Crowder is the more explosive player. And the more versatile player. And if I'm the QB for both teams, I'd much rather be throwing to Strong.

I usually don't put a lot of emphasis into who is happy to be in the bowls and who isn't. But just like last year when Arizona State lost the Pac-12 title game and was relegated to the Holiday Bowl, they probably qualified as potentially the most disappointed team coming into these bowls. And Duke isn't the kind of team you can just blow off or they'll kick your ass.

If you really feel this way.... you might want to rethink.

Could cost you crap loads of money over time.

so how do we explain them jumping out to a 20-3 lead if they are disinterested and not gonna show up.

No, for years I have gone back and looked at the stats on these games, and the great majority of them play out pretty much like the numbers. But the problem is a good portion of the public gets caught up in what the ESPN talking heads are saying about these teams, and they end up like sheep following the the sheep header to the slaughter. But each year you have about 4 or 5 games of of the 38 or so bowls that don't play out like they should, or are way off from the numbers. Then the public starts getting caught up in this aspect of it, which is a mistake.

You might be right. Duke definitely gave them a wake up call when they found out they weren't going to quit on them. At least it should have been a wake up call. We'll see how good of a coach Todd Graham is in getting his team refocused in the second half.

When it gets to 21-3 in these bowl games, many times visions of sugar-plums (women) comes to mind for later tonight....we all know the rest. If they snap-out of it, they'll be OK..we'll see.

It can be tough to get up for games where the fans come dressed as aluminum benches...

Agreed. If Crowder is so great then why was he under wraps for most of this game other than his TD Pass. Strong will be the 2nd WR taken in the draft behind Cooper. Take that to the bank. Size and speed fellas.

No disputing that Strong is a nice looking WR and will be a high draft pick but Crowder is simply a better football player.
