Locked my keys in my car, called triple A, guy came and opened my door in like 15 seconds. The guy was real nice, but I dont really look at this as a tippable service, plus I was in cheap mode as I got killed in college bball yesterday.

No.

I usually tell, the guy, if I pay you cash, will cancel the call. Some places have you give the guy a CC at the location and then he phones it in.

Say they are charing you $50, I tell him, I will give you $20 cash and you tell your boss, I wasn't here. Worked last time I did it.

If i get a flat or need a jump, i always tip the guy 5 or 10 dollars. It feels like he's coming for free, since our AAA membership is paid in full, months in advance.Just my opinion since you asked.

Service oriented. Yeah you tip. Cheap bastard.

What the fuck is service oriented? Everything is service oriented these days. My fucking lawyer got me out of jail yesterday, do I tip him? My broker told me to get back in the market Monday, do I tip him? Repairman just came out to fix my TV, do I tip him?

Guess am an old school cheap bastard, but the only person I tip is a waitress. Everybody else can thank their lucky stars they got a job, if they want a tip get a job as a waitress.

Here is a tip for all you that read this post: My Friend Luis. First race at Santa Anita today 3/11 (<)<

I wouldn't tip a AAA guy. But the "pay in cash/cancel the call" suggestion is cool.

Tipping is a powerful tool. I guess some were brought up differently.

Hey oceansrazor...you don't tip the guy that cleans your car? What about a shoeshine guy? You give your paper guy a cash gift at xmas right? Bathroom attendant?

How about the girl in the window at the track if you hit a big ticket? Pizza delivery guy? Taxi driver? Babysitter?

I haven't been to a meeting in a while, are you guys suggesting tipping the guy leading the meeting? Or everyone that stands up to speak? A lot of AA guys I know can pick locks, help with drywall, plumbling etc. I usually tip them when they work at my house.

If they get there in 30 minutes or less yes. If your ass is standing around for an hour hell no. I try to tip anyone in the service industry say the AC guy or the guy that airs up my tires at the tire store as long as they don't try to sell me something I don't need.

I tip a ton to food servers who do a good job but why the hell would you tip guys making $10/hour or more to do their job? The waitresses make like $3/hour and depend on tips... that's part of their job. If a guy isn't getting paid $3/hour, why should I tip him to do what he's getting paid hourly for?

Your a little off on the $ a server makes $4.19 hour + tips and a AAA driver who works for a tow company makes from 25% to 33% of the tow bill, and on a AAA run the bill to AAA is about $20.00 thats about $5 to $6.60 for the driver. On a slow day he could get 3 calls. And one more thing if you have to ask your self "Should I tip" then you know you should.
