Do you use Linked In?

I have been on there for years, but do not go on all that often and have not seen any real benefits to being "Linked In". Perhaps I am using it "wrong".

I use it quite a bit to drum up business. There are many, many recruiters that use LinkedIn

It is great for networking, job hunting or head hunting. About a year ago I sat in a 1hr long free class on how to use LinkedIn and I found out I was absolutely using it all wrong.

Been out of the job searching market for 5+ years now...(even though the experts say you should always be on the look)...but I think LNKD is becoming the premier job search engine.
I've received random requests from headhunters or companies over the years asking if I was interested in a position.

no premium for me...but they spam the hell out of me with that stuff.

i'm a LNKD binge-r. won't touch it for weeks...then i'll get an email or request and then start stalking around for a bit.

i'll probably use it to target my next job.

I work in the DC area and I'm on it. I have a limited profile, but list my previous job experience. I get emails regularly from recruiters/head hunters. I'm not in the market for a job right now, but I've made a lot of connections.

Worried about security now. People kept telling me they got a request to link even though I hadnt sent a request. I do it on my phone and think somehow they get into my contacts. Has this happened to anybody else?

not that I know of, but I do find it odd that random people want to "connect"

It sends random endorsements for job skills to mine also. I mean I know someone I haven't talked to in 10 years just randomly took the time to endorse me for work skills they didn't even know I had. Umm Kay, just says that to toss you an email to get you to look for traffic...

it it also likes to remind you of endorsements from years ago for the same reasons...
