Just to be straight, I consider Parents, Nurses, Teachers, Cops, Firemen, Soldiers, etc...to be everyday hero's. What I am asking is have you ever performed a selfless act of heroism? OR Risked your life to save anothers?
I recieved an e-mail today, as I do every couple of months, from a little girl who lives in Pennsylvania. 2 years ago I was at the South Jersey shore, on the beach with some family members. Beach was packed, like usual, and it was a beautiful day, until.....
This lady started screaming that she had lost her child, and instantly every able bodied person was in the water looking for this lost young person. After about 1 min or so of frantic searching in the ocean, I came up for some air and looked around to see if the child had been located yet. It didn't appear so, and I went back under water and then I found her. She was lifeless, but I pulled her up and was quickly mobbed by ppl who scooped the child away from me and was brought to the beach.
After some CPR and lifesaving techniques the child was revived and I was thanked by the childs siblings, the mother took the child off the beach but phoned me that night, as I had given my phone number to the childs brother. Anyway, i get an e-mail from this young girl every couple of months and its a good feeling. Anyone could have found her but I did and it changed my life...
have you ever pulled someone from a burning building, or someone out who has fallen through the ice, or something similar? This thread is certainly not to brag, but an opportunity to see if there are others out there that have been lucky enough to save someone elses life..not only does it change the persons life of whom you save, but it changes the saver as well.
