Are there any college football games you have circled for gambling purposes for 05?

Dsethi, I don't know if I'll take Iowa or Iowa State in this game, but you bring up valid points about pedigree. Hawkeyes are perennially a good team capable of beating some REALLY good teams. It would not surprise me at all to see Iowa and Penn State return to prominence this year based on history of their programs.

Kojak, I looooooove home dogs. Let's hope ND pulls out some early wins and Huskies are 0-3 when Irish come to Seattle, inflate that line up to about +21 and watch Ty's boys mount a serious battle. Of course, 9/24 is a long ways off!

Keep in mind this is the GAME OF THE YEAR for McCarney and the Cyclowns. They pull out every trick play, fake, on side kick etc that they can think of to win.

Iowa plays this as any other game- keep pounding the rock, punish the other team and sooner or later they will breaK.

Even being an Iowa fan,Alumni and season ticket holder, I have taken the Cyclowns and the points every year. I can't remember the last time I lost on this game.

Just an FYI

Nice Thread

Too many of the paybacks listed involve large spreads. I expect some will not cover.

As for wash-nd, that is a classic. Prior to the last year or two the Huskies have been $$$ as a home team with points.

OU- Texas

Taking the underdog on the money line if both teams are undefeated.

The ND-Wash game scares me as an ND guy. No one has this game circled on the schedule, all anyone talks about are our games vs. Pitt, Michigan, USC, Tennessee, Purdue, etc.
When arguably the Nd-Wash. game will be one of, if not the most emotional game of the year for both teams. Washington guys trying to win a big game for their old coach who got the axe 2 years too early, ND holdovers who still have fond memories of their coach (and trust me, they do, most of the players were PISSED when Ty got fired, specially since they heard it from the media and not from the university itself). This has all the makings...that being said, I still hope and expect ND to win, but UW is no cakewalk, and you better believe that crowd will be raucous. Ty's been criticized for his lack of emotional display, but I could see this going down to the last few possessions and Ty getting jacked up at the end for his new school. Should be an interesting game, to say the least.

By the way if anyone's going to any ND home games or ND-Pitt ND-Michigan let me know where your tailgate's at!

You are exactly correct on the luck Iowa had last year and they are drastically overrated, but you lost a ton of your credibility in my eyes, not that I think you are god like many anyhow, by claiming an Iowa st. win here. They are way overrated also and will not win on the road here.

RF- This is a HOME game for the Cyclones of Iowa STATE.

-Fishhead-

ps- You are correct, they are possibly overrated too!

Thanks for clarifying Fishhead. My apologies Fezzik. That changes everything. Sorry about the brainfart. Iowa St. does have a chance at home. Should be a great game.

Every year. Usually Iowa a 2 TD favorite. Opening line might be reduced this year based on high expectation for ISU and the fact that the game is in Ames.

Iowa WILL WIN but not cover the spread.

Iowa 31-ISU 27

See above, does anyone read before they post?

Kojak,
great thread and many excellent replies.
I, personally, haven't started capping the pigskin (just reading through the preseason rags, currently), but a top-notch discussion nonetheless.

Iowa vs Ohio St. on Sept 24. Shame Shame on the Hawkeyes for slapping the Bucks around last year.

Yep always do, thus no excuses for my lapse. Again sorry to call out Fezzik when I was the one in obvious error.

Purdue at Wisky is another interesting game considering 4 game slide started on fluke fumble at end of the game by Wisky by Orton.

Sandwich

One that jumps out to me is a sandwich game in September. San Diego State travels to Columbus to take on Ohio State one week after the Buckeyes host Texas and one week before OSU hosts Iowa. I will be backing the Aztecs in this one.

My alma mater (Western Michigan) has payback vs everyone this year. The Central Michigan game will be circled as WM was running out the clock and fumbled, CM winning.

The QB for WM is the coaches kid, so they may put up some big numbers.

Iowa at Iowa State tilt

Don't have a strong opinion on who covers here, but just for the posters to keep in mind:

Iowa will open around a 4 1/2-point favorite at Iowa State here IMHO.

I have lines developed for every college game in September and all the big games this year. Will be glad to share my thoughts if anybody is interested.

Good luck this season,
Paul

SD State is probably the right side here, like your thoughts. Both teams played in 2003 to a 3pt. Buckeye win in the Horseshoe; a 4-2 turnover deficit including a 100yd. int return and 3 Nugent FG's were the only OSU pts. scored. Different teams now no doubt, but you'd have to think SD State would likely be 0-2(UCLA and @Air Force) when they play and VERY hungry for this game.

you wanna talk about sandwich games - then how about a "lookahead" game on sept 17 when idaho goes to seattle to play UW the week BEFORE UW/ND game

find it really hard to believe UW players will spend much of the week before the ID game focusing on the Vandals and not on the ND game next week. gotta think UW will be laying decent sized wood here and i can see this one being A LOT closer than it should
