Steelers haven't won a playoff game in almost half a decade. With Baltimore and Cincy potentially better than Pittsburgh this year, good chance they don't make the playoffs.

Oddsmakers have them finishing behind Balty and Cincy.

Definitely DO NOT see them getting 10 wins.

For Pitt to get to the post season this year, they are gonna need outstanding play from their front seven. If they don't get a LOT of pressure on the QB, they are fucked. Secondary will get torched.

Mike Tomlin is as secure as any HC in the NFL.
1)He's a great Coach.
2)He's in the organization that does not fire their head coach. They identify their guy, and they keep them. It would take multiple seasons of 4 wins or less before any talk of Tomlin being in trouble could be taken seriously.

I've read Steelers' Offense will be one of best in league this year.

Don't follow them closely enough to judge if thats far-fetched or possible...

Once they get Bell back they're loaded on O. Ben stays healthy they are a top 3 O IMO. Just need D to be avg/mediocre instead of horrible.

Ben, Bell, Brown, Bryant

The Killer B's

OL is intact all 5 starters from last year return.

Likely 6-6 after 12 games. If things go well, 7-5.

But even at 7-5 they'd have to go 3-1 to finish the season and get 10 wins. And 3 of last 4 are on the road with the one home game being Denver for the 15th game.

With Klondike as Denver's new coach, I don't see Denver as being a league leader and blasting the competition... so they'll likely very much need that game in late December. I still don't know why Denver hired Kevorkian as their coach, but when a billionaire wants a losing coach.... a billionaire hires a losing coach, I guess.

Most definitely is brutal. They would catch a big break if they don't have to see Brady week 1.

If Brady plays, Steelers lose. But then they get an absolute softball in game 2 at home vs. SF.

Then 6 weeks of torture chamber games. Tough sledding.

[h=1]Mike Tomlin, Steelers agree on contract extension[/h]
The Steelers have only had three head coaches since 1969 and aren't about to let their current one go any time soon.
Mike Tomlin and the club have agreed to an extension through the 2018 season, the team announced Thursday. Tomlin, 43, has been the head coach in Pittsburgh since 2007.

The answer clearly is "no"

The owners of the Steelers love their headcoaches, tthey don't go thru them like some teams do......unreal how they've only had 3 since 1969, go to show how some owners look carefully into finding a coach that will stay a long time.

I liked Cowher a lot, he was determined & had the blue collar mentality.

My question is, did Tomlin win a super bowl with the team Cowher built?

And if so, can Tomlin win by building one himself.......I know they arrived at the bowl vs Gbay in 2010 but lost.

Big Ben is getting older......Polamalu retired (which IMO was the heart of their defense)

Will be interesting to see which team wins the NFC North......all teams in that division are plus money.

our defense will be horrible. this season is a toss-up, but our offense will keep us in games.

They have upgraded their secondary and have one of the most potent offenses in the league. They should be in the AFC title game vs Dolphins. Not too sure why their dogs vs PATs in opener?

Because Pats won the super bowl & they're first game is on opening night at home......if Brady was playing, they would be -6........but w/o Brady they will be -2.5

Steelers have one of the best offenses in the league...if the secondary/linebackers step up, this team could be scary.

This is true.... as it is true throughout all of history.

The odds are very strong that the Steelers will not win a playoff game this year. Last win was in Jan of 2010, I believe. If they make the playoffs, they'll likely be on the road.

It is interesting to note how their identity has changed. They were always a defensive, gritty, tough football team. As time passes they are getting further and further away from that. Now they will be a flashy Loyola Marymount-style team? :think2:

If they don't make the playoffs this year, then something is wrong "long-term". And that would mean in the system. And if they don't make it this year, probably a good chance the systemic problem would roll over to next year as well. So you miss the playoffs in that year and then you've 7 years without a playoff win and it's almost 2018....

I think this is a very important year for the Steelers.

Ha, Mike Tomlin. He is like a black version of Rex Ryan. Good with the rhetoric followed by the "I'm a tough guy" speech that you get 2 or 3 times a year.

This is true, however, you must switch with the times and the league. This league is based on passing and favors the offense...which is Steelers strong point.
