Do you think the Royals are for real. They are 9-0 now against pretty weak competition, but I played them at betlaspalmas 30-1 to win their division. I hope they can keep it up.

ITS A GOOD TIME TO FADE THE ROYALS...THEY COULD VERY EASILY BE 12-8 AT THE 20 GAME MARK,LOL...

DANNY, YOU STARTING TO SWEAT AT ALL ABOUT THAT NJ BET ?

Not a bit JourneyMan. I tried to get more on the Nets but Olympic took the plays down. The Nets won't lose another regular season game.

Royals have played nothing yet, let them go out West and then you can tell more, remember they play the worst Div in the Baseball

Chris,

Yeah that is what I was thinking. I know they won't be that good, but the division is weak so I played them at 30-1 just a shot since the division doesn't have any power houses anyway.

I got on them when they were 15-1 after the first two games, after they were 5-0 they were 10-1, and yesterday at 8-0 they were still 8-1.

They should get a nice lead if they continue to play the way they have. Minn was in a major rut, but has climbed out of it a little, but their schedule is no cake walk early.

KC has a 4 game lead on Chi (overrated) and 5.5 game lead over Minn. And that is after today's games.

The scenario is that they play all division foes until almost May, so if they continue to play hot they might get an almost uncatchable lead early. They also close the year out against the same teams. They have a nice stretch with Det, but with the White Sox they have 7 of their last 10. So Chi has a good shot if they are close. But Chi stinks, they are overrated like they are every year. If KC sweeps them again next week that will probably bury them.

But it is a tough call, Minn, the seemingly best team in that div has a very tough scedule out west in interleague play, and if they get too far back they don't play KC head to head after Aug, so if they are well back in that last month, there are no head to head games to gain fully with just a win.

If Sweeney or Ibanez get hurt they are dead, Beltran coming back will help them alot, problem is Royals have no power at all.

Wantitall,

Betlaspalmas didnt move these odds that quick. I got them 30-1 at LasPalmas on Thursday when they were 6-0. They have since dropped to 10-1.

Futures...

...it's a LOOOOONG season, which is ONLY 2 WEEKS young!

A slump, a couple injuries (you think KC has a deep bench?), not to mention any other team in the division getting hot and the whole world is viewed from completely different perspective...

...as such, keep it in perspective.

But speculate all you want...after all that's what CUB fans do EVERY year...until about JULY then, that's when the annual, "wait until next season" realization begins to set in.

Yeah I agree, but I thought it was worth a $25 shot just to make it interesting.

I wouldnt give much creedence to a 9-0 start in any other division, but since there is no real strong team in this division, a 6-0 (now 9-0 ) start and 30-1 odds make it worth a shot.

They already have had one major injury...depth should be a problem but it hasn't fazed the Royals. Throw in the flu which has most of the team puking between innings, and that 9-0 record is amazing.

The Royals have a mediocre offense, two high quality starters, an outstanding defense and a relief core with great arms. They seem very similar to the Twins last year, especially considering how well their bullpen has thrown so far. You have to remember last year the Royals went on another 9 game winning streak. They proceeded to go into 2-13 in the next 15 games. Affeldt and Hernandez are good enough to stop such a slump, and 85 wins will win the division. I got KC at 40-1 at Pinnacle...so far so good.

No. They are not. Sweeney and Beltran are for real. Their pitching, however, is not. Hernandez and Affeldt are okay pitchers, and will be above average in 2 years, but they will fall hard sometime this year. The rest of their staff is young as well, and all of them are pitching over their heads. Even though the Royals have some pop on offense, I'd say they finish right around 65-75 wins.

They will fade but they will be competitive all year long. Good mixture of players and a team concept.

Danny, those were the odds from Canbet, They are the only offshore I check the futures on during the season (not many offer "rolling" futures anyways).

I haven't checked this morning however. But they are more than likely still 6-1.

As far as a mediocre offense, that is what everyone said about Anahiem last year. "who are these guys", well, by Sept pretty much everyone knew who they were.

teams that generate runs and get guys on base are always dangerous.

Case in point, Col Rockies, they have been a dog in every game but one, and they have a record of 7-3. Why? Because their on base percentage is like 850 and they score runs. Pitching is going to stink in that park, so simply outscoring guys is going to hae to do it.

They always say great ptiching beats great hitting, still true, but with some of the bull pens in the league that might not always be the case this year.
