I thought I saw SBR John saying they will lose money in general going forward.

Rx paid some BOS stuff, has to pay mods and stuff.

You can't start another RX without stealing a list of emails, but is even Rx very profitable ? Other smaller forums look really dead.

What happened to line service for sale ? To me it doesn't matter as there are only about 5 books left, so why buy a line service ?

Didn't the Shrink sell the Rx for like a half a million or something? It must be profitable to be worth that.

Without Pinnacle affaliate money the smaller portals are not making money.

As a matter of fact very few are depositing into the offshores right now and affaliate money for the smaller portals is nill.

Though this is the slowest time of year so come Sept. we shall see?

A little late but almost ready to go operational as it is being test used by selected players in order to be fine tuned. I have used it and believe me the program is excellent and I am still finding my way around the different functions.

Being at many forums in my time and Modded at a few. To some smaller forums it's a nice little hobby with few costs. A good thing is the small cost of doing business (besides paying mods) at many.

I always harped on owners to look for other ways to generate revenue, besides gambling sites.

Maybe some links to sites for stuff that we use anyways and would use to support a great site like the RX. Maybe a link to a travel site, ticket sales, Maybe an RX visa card with a link for signing uop you get an RX polo from the bank. The possibilities are endless.

Maybe a link to a porn purveyor a multi billion dollar industry, could have contests for free videos etc.

MAYbe look to NON-GAMING forums and see how they get their revenue, IF ANY.

I would guess the forums generated a nice living for a few in the past but with the decline of offshore books wanting to advertise in the states I would have to believe the future can't look very rosy financially for most sites.

There are forums about everything under the sun, many with no ads or very few. They can't bring in much revenue because the forums are slow and very special interest.

Mods on those type forums are usually volunteers.

Even on big forums, mods usually are volunteers. To be honest, I've never heard of paid mods before.

Paid mods seem unique to gambling because the ads can bring big money unlike other forums about appliance repair or something.

The mods put in more time, too ( I think).

there are some uncertainties ahead as we go through a transition period, there are alot of important things going in the courts, there is also an election coming up in 2008 which may regenerate the business.

Actually before the online gambling crackdown the company that owns covers.com ... that being Sports Direct generated revenues of over $10 million .... but that was not just covers but other stats services that they supply.
