They are worth whatever someone is willing to pay

No more or less of a scam than most expensive things

I agree and in the same line of thought the scam is to think that in order for you to show your love you have to buy expensive (and most of the times totally useless) things

The other brainwashing scam I hear constantly is "I deserve this!!!!" (shows totally lavish thing which costs a certain % of a house) ..and people wonder why everything is going to hell...........:ohno:

My favorite stone btw is called aquamarine.......my brother has a ring that my grandma gave him....and I have been trying to 'steal' it for quite sometime, he lends it to me......I keep it a couple of years . then he asks for it when he remembers I have it

the stone is quite cool and can be either blue or pink depending on the type of light that hits it (artificial or natural)

they aren't rare if that's what you mean

all it is, is highly concentrated carbon

just an example of marketing and debeers and such holding a stranglehold on the supply

plus that diamond you give your wife likely has alot of bloodshed in its history as its traveled from underneath the ground to on your wife's finger

if it were a free market prices would be lower and people in africa wouldn't be slicing each other up over getting their hands on diamonds

a diamond is just as much a scam as say a bag of pot is

in the case of pot...in the free markets prices would be cheap for the consumer....you wouldn't have to go through a shady drug dealer...and there wouldn't be all the crime and bloodshed associated with the trade of that particular good

its all supply and demand

same thing in the case of diamonds....supply kept artificially low through a monopoly....while demand is made high through marketing and women loving the looks of a diamond and such...and like pot there is a criminal element that is created when you artificially suppress the supply rather than increase it to meet what the market demands

If you were able to completely control the supply of any product in the world, then you could sell it for a real high price.

If they ever released all the diamonds there are in this world, then fake diamonds would be worth more then them. Its a real shame that govt around the world have not put a stop to this bullshit and instead have let these DeBeer crooks rob people for years and years.

I read an article before that said almost every gem out there is really worth more then a diamond.
