In the past, Americans only exposure to Asian Indians in this country were notables such as tennis player Vijay Armritraj, conductor Zubin Mehta, actor Ben Kingsley and author Deepak Chopra. Well, there was also the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi with Transcendental Meditation.

In recent years Asian Indians have been going more mainstream. Sure they have the media people such as M. Night Shyamalan. However, Asian Indians such as Bobby Jindal as the Governor of Louisiana was mentioned as a potential Vice Presidential candidate to John McCain. Dr. Sanjay Gupta has been offered the position of Surgeon General in the Obama cabinet and has accepted.

Will Bollywood now invade Hollywood? The recent success of the Asian Indian movie Slum Dog Millionaire has lead to the movie garnering 10 Academy Award nominations. What will be next for this newest popular minority?

Nothing like a large group of software engineers to lower the property value of the neighborhood...

Yea no kidding. Make enough to buy an expensive house and live in it. Now as for the upkeep and care? Different conversation.

Not stereotyping but, why do all the software guys have shitty landscaping? Or just flat out neglect? Talk about bringing down the prop value.

Ever heard of "pride in ownership"???

I'm thinking most of the Indians in Silicon Valley grew up in India as opposed to Skinsraj and Dsethi who grew up in the US. I'm guessing there isn't much landscaping done in India since it's a rather poor country. So these guys certainly know how to buy the house itself but don't know much about landscaping.
