So far I did only post in the contests sponsored by Rio but i want to come forward with a story about the former owner of APEX sportsbook.
First of all i learned to know Robbie a couple of months ago but I want to make you aware of the fact that he gave me some insight.
Around two or three months ago Robbie asked me if I could get some advertisers for his site askthebookie.com. I said I will look around and see what i can do. For getting possible advertisers he sent me a written letter which he wanted me to forward to them. I was somehow stunned about the letter he sent me and told him that i can not send it out. He told me then that i should make the possible changes because the letter was originally for his friends at the RIO group. Yes, he told me that they are good friends. I was somehow alarmed by the fact he wanted new advertisers for his site. I mean it makes no sense for me to run a sportsbook as well as a forum and then get other sportsbook for advertising on his site. That is a no brainer for me. How can someone really think of giving away potential customers to other books? He asked for around 1k. I can not remember if it was for 1 month or 3 months. That showed me that he was in real need of money.
Another day he told me that he will fly to Russia to meet with some Russians. I asked him if it has something to do with APEX but he told me that he will not give me more infos. That was by mid May.
A couple of days later i saw some posts about APEX being in trouble. So I wanted to check him. I told him i know of a hudge bettor (a wiseguy) who maybe wants to post up 30k. He was more than interested and told me that he will take his action. In case the guy is too sharp he will lay off his action at other shops and he told me he has lots of accounts out there for laying off such action. Furthermore he told me that forums like therx and mw do not hurt him by spreading out the word of financial troubles. He said something like most of the guys here are only small bettors and only come over to his book when he offers some free money. Furthermore he told me that a 200k loan will hit his bank account within days and so everything will be fine. Guess what: Days later APEX was out of business.
What I really want to know is what are the ties between Rio and Robbie. Rio is still advertising on atb. Why does Rio support a person/friend that stole thousands from customers? That is no offense against you at Rio as you are a top book.
Then I saw a brand new site:
bookoldschool.com
Could it be that Robbie is the owner of that shop? The domain was registered in April 04 and that is when the problems at APEX started.

robbie stole 600 Dollars from the account of a close friend within his last week of APEX. After that he was unreachable for me and my buddy. My buddy never saw a cent of the money back.
Ah, forgott to mention one of his tactics in basketball: He left all games open until around 10 minutes after the tip off were passed. That gave him a nice advantage. When a client posted after the original start of the match and won the bet he canceled the bet and said late action. In case the person lost the bet he kept the money. In case someone immediately realised that he gave them late action and informed them right away (asking to cancel the bet) Robbie waited until ht. in case APEX won he told the bettor that it was no late action (it is usual that sportsbooks keep the line open for a couple of more minutes according to him) and in the other case (if the bettor won) he canceled the bet due to late action.
Btw the guy was a nice email database trader. He even sent me 4 databases for sending out promotions for his sportsbook what i never did and asked me to look for similar databases at other shops. So i simply had all email adresses from his clients and he even traded them with (also sold them to) touts.
If Robbie really layed off some action at other shops there most be some money left. Money the sportsbook should release to the former clients of Apex and not Robbie. To me it looks like Robbie took out that money and started a new business with the mentioned site. That means that he has not lost any money with APEX. I guess he was even able to make some reasonable winning with APEX goin down and now started his new business with that money. Even Rio still supports him with the money they pay him for advertising on his site.
If some of the mods do not believe me i still have all transcripts of our chats.
