Yeah, some people I guess still think we're in 1923 when professional athletes made less money and were tempted to throw games, lol. As far as I know it's where the athletes aren't making money (college) where the majority of point-shaving and similar scandals have occurred in the past 40 years. Pretty funny story in "Bets, Drugs & Rock and Roll" about an NFL game back in the 50s or 60s I think where an entire team was food poisoned so that some bettors could clean up.

If you lose by the hook in the last minutes its very easy to think its rigged...if you win, its just plain fucking luck :toast:
I've noticed you'll never meet guys who have won their bet, and call a game rigged..only lost bets will make up these suspisions!

Listening to ESPN radio after the Steelers won a shady Superbowl the espn announcer said he's getting e-mails that the NFL is fixed and went on to say the NFL has a problem with this perception and they need to address it one way or another.

The NFL buried their head in the sand after that superbowl hoping it would go away as it did, hell they didn't even fine Holgrem for his comments at the rally day's later about the refs.

I firmly believe that game was not fixed but shaded towards Jerome Bettis and the mighty Steelers for marketing reasons.

But you talking to a "guy" who told you the game was rigged, before the game was played...and went 2-0....

You need to pay attention...

Once again you are still obsessing over this. Let it go already, why does it bother you so much? You have to be clueless if you don't think professional leagues do not have agendas in certain games. Sometimes things are just too obvious to ignore. I'm not saying they rig an entire game & are in it with the players. No, I don't believe that for one second. However it is ridiculous to think an official here & there might not have an agenda for their own reasons or maybe from the league.

Just watch that Superbowl alone & you see how that was definitely not on the up & up. Way too much of a coincidence for that to play out like it did.

i do agree that it happens from time to time but it's not that frequent as this guy thinks where you can go out and pick games every weekend that might be rigged. not to mention the fact that the line has nothing to do with the fact that a ref or someone might be rigging a game..dont you get that? vegas and the NFL are not going to ge together and rig a game, gimme a break

in glad there are people here that have some common sense. i mean of course shady things happen here and there. refs doing things, or a player etc. but to think that the whole league might be in on it or that it is a big conspiracy and it occurs so frequently so that you can actually cap games on a weekly basis using this crazy theory..well that's idiotic. this is how paranoia takes over in some people's lives

Winners spend their time handicapping the games...because the NFL is easily capped for profit...if you have a logical brain...and are willing to spend the time to learn how to do it.

Losers blame it all on conspiracy theory...because they don't have the ability or are too lazy to learn.

There is no evidence that its rigged...but wo cares if it is rigged?

It's certainly not rigged in a way that loses me any money. Period.

some of you guys must be living in a dreamworld to think for some reason that sports has no corruption in it. Yeah and wallstreet is on the up and up also.
How much money anybody is making has no bering on games not being fixed.

Let me give you a little life lesson

HUMANS + MONEY = CORRUPTION

Its been this way since man has been on this planet and it will always be that way.

Some of you think because your not seeing people get busted it must not be happening, sorry to burst your bubble but its happening out there more then you think. Money is money to these guys and easy money is even better.

Ditto CD on this statement - Humans + Money = Corruption.

The true morons, the real morons are those who refuse to believe that statement. This does not necessarily translate into NFL Games being 'rigged'. Personally, I think everyone is getting hung up on the word rigged when the word itself is subjective and has a different meaning to differnet people. Rigged to one person may mean, in their mind, that each game is not on the up and up, each player, coach and official plots and schemes behind closed doors as to how they are going to 'fix' the game. The term rigged to someone else may simply mean that one referee in a single game has a personal agenda. Other than what's been made public knowledge in our history of sports, all sports, I don't have personal evidence that games are either rigged or not rigged and I'd be willing to bet (get it, bet, betting forum) that neither does anyone here. All of what is being posted is personal opinion. That being said, let's put football games or sports in general aside for a moment, bottom line is that when it comes to money being involved, corruption exists in every single facet and sector of this society. To not believe that is merely choosing to be naive.

if you;ve been paying attention at all, the two of you...you'll see that neither side is arguing whether or no there is corruption that exists in the NFL..anyways, it's thurs, im getting geared up for another monster weekend..going to focus and analyze the games we have coming. im going to drop the arguing. best of luck to everyone this weekend, and i mean everyone, doesn't matter if i have been arguing with them or not.

With all due respect...I don't think your argument holds up very well.

There is much money and fame to be made by exposing the corruption.

Prosecutors get promotions....reporters get promotions...players write books ect.

There is just no evidence of any widespread corruption...if it was there...people would be making a buck on exposing it.
