yeah, got kinda cheated early by the refs anyway though... what a comeback though... impressive.. Downey is clutch, as well as Zam Fredrick..

this could be a surprise team in the tourney, this team has some playmakers.

yes sir... they've gotta get there first. South Carolina got hurt tonight simply because of foul trouble... Downey didn't get to play a good bit of the game because of ticky-tacky fouls that they called on him guarding calathes... All of our big guys had 3 or 4 fouls... just cheap really because very few fouls were called against Florida... Downey got ran over when we were down 7 and it was a no call out of bounds play. If we can keep all of our guys on the floor, I believe SC can hang with just about anyone... gotta make FTs though.

Amazing stretch of shots at the end but S. Carolina DID NOT get robbed by the refs. Had they made their free throws they could have won the game.

wasnt just a couple weeks ago everyone was calling meeks one of the best in the country because of his amazing performances, and now all of a sudden he's not even the best player in the crappy sec?

wow do people ever overreact all the time.

good game by sc though. i really dont think any sec team does anything at all in the tourney, but sc is having a good season and maybe one they can build on to become a good sec program in future years.

First time I got to actually watch a full South Carolina game tonight and I was very impressed. Very athletic, very long, and I was in awe of Downey in the 1H before he put on this show.

They are going to make noise in the tournament this year if they get put in the right bracket.

Free throw shooting certainly hurt South Carolina but when the fouling disparity was 30-19 then it's pretty ridiculous... all of the fouls called on Florida was on their bench.. Calathes and Tyus only picked 1 the entire game, yet our big guys had 3 or 4 EACH. Sorry, but Tyus isn't THAT good inside to draw all of those fouls, yet only foul ONCE the entire game... Everytime Calathes got tapped, ti was a foul on SC... on the other hand, Downey gets completely knocked down, the ball goes out of bounds, and they call it ball out of bounds, SC ball. I have no doubt that SC would have won that game if it was on a neutral court.

Have you been watching Meeks lately? He's had a couple great games and has had some subpar games... Downey brings his game like this EVERY night. He is the most clutch player in the SEC. I'd be willing to bet that he's the most feared player in the SEC right now.

glad to hear you were impressed... this is virtually the same team that finished in last place in the SEC last year. Darrin Horn (took Western Kentucky to the sweet 16 last year) has really turned this team around. Dave Odumb liked to play a "use the entire shotclock, shoot a bad shot, and try not to get the score ran up on ya" type offense... Horn likes to run and as you can see, our players can really run... Downey is a remarkable point guard that opens up shots for our entire offense. Evka (white kid) didn't have a great game tonight but he is one of the best 3 pt shooters out there... I think he's shooting around 50% from the 3-pt line. These team is built around 3 South Carolina Mr Basketball's (Downey, Fredrick, and Holmes)... Horn has really impressed us from the product he has put out on the court this year.

im not arguing one guy being better than the other because i cant stand watching sec basketball, i find it incredibly poor. ive seen them both and they both impress me a lot at times and not so much at others. my point was just people were going crazy after meeks torched tenn saying he is the best player in the nation (not even close- maybe best in sec but nowhere close to best in nation) and now after downey has a few very good games he is now the new big thing in the sec until someone else has a huge 30+ pt game that impresses everyone.

downey might be the best in the sec, im not ready to argue otherwise on that topic. i just think the comments are a bit of an overreaction and maybe a bit of biasism because youre a fan.

the best players are ones that can even be called the best right after they have a terrible game. to me if i had to take one player in college basketball its either griffen, harden or hansbrough. if i have to take one player in the sec it is meeks, downey or patterson.

I agree GimmeDatt, Downey is a great player and South Carolina will at least make the sweet sixteen

I say Calathes slightly edges Downey as the best player in the conference. Calathes does it all and doesn't force anything. He has one of the highest basketball IQs of any player in the country. Downey is a great player as well but Calathes is a little more well rounded. Both are easily better than Meeks. All Meeks can do is score and he is streaky.
